Full-Day Porto Art & Architecture Shore Excursion (by car)

Porto is a very old town, but it is also the homeland of two Pritzker awarded architects: Siza Vieira and Souto Moura. In this last decades Porto has assumed a main role in Contemporary Art and Architecture in Portugal. This tour will take us on a panoramic drive (private car and driver) around the modern districts of the city, the beautiful oceanfront, and it will give us the opportunity to appreciate the most iconic modern buildings as the Casa da Musica by Rem Koolhaas, the Palácio de Cristal, or the Modern Passenger Terminal for the big cruise liners. The Foz neighborhood, by the oceanfront, is our favourite way to chill out. Nothing is more relaxing than having lunch (or a drink) overlooking the Atlantic. The climax is the (included) visit to the Serralves Foundation rated among the best contemporary art museums in the world, which also comprises a Park and a Villa. A full day dedicated to the modern side of Porto.

. Start at the hotel / meeting point. . Panoramic drive around town. . The Boavista neighbourhood, the new business district hosting the new icon of the city - the Casa da Musica, the amazing concert hall by the Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. . Driving through the Boavista Avenue until the Ocean front give us the opportunity to appreciate some of the contemporary buildings of the city but also its City Park. . Matosinhos beach, the Passengers Terminal and the "She changes" - the most popular supersized public sculpture in town by Janet Echelman. . Visit the Serralves Foundation (access all areas tickets included). . Free time for lunch (I recommend one of the nice places by the oceanfront in the Foz neighbourhood). . After lunch we will head towards the river mouth with its beautiful garden . On our way back to the old city, it's time to appreciate the French romantic gardens of the Palácio de Cristal. .
