We had an excellent day and tour with Norberto in the Douro Valley. Norberto met us in Porto then drove us the 1 1/2 hours to the Douro Valley. Well worth the drive to this very special area of Portugal. Had an excellent visit and wine tasting at a wonderful family owned winery. NO big buses or large tour groups here. Wonderful. I had to buy at least one bottle of nice Port to take home with me as a special memory of this visit. Stopped at a number of great sites for the views and photos. Had an interesting one hour small boat tour and a very special lunch experience at a resturant you would probably never discover yourself. When was the last time you ate at a restaurant with no sign in the surrounding area or door? Had to pull a rope to ring a bell for the host to welcome you in. Got to see the old kitchen area then had an outstanding home cooked style lunched paired with some complementary pairing of wine. A wonderful day with a nice balance (I luv the word “balance”) of sites, activities, food, and wine. Than you Norberto for a wonderful day and tour!

Hi! Welcome to my profile! I was born in the beautiful town of Amarante (the heart of the Green Wine region) and I am a inveterate traveler. I have been in more than 50 countries so far. I crossed the African continent overland, all the way down on a 4x4, from Morocco to South Africa and have made the longest train journey in the world! I jumped in on a train in Porto, crossed Europe, Siberia, Mongolia, China and arrived in Ho Chi Minh, in Vietnam, where the railway finished. But I did not stop there. I continued traveling through Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia! I have done volunteer work in Bamako, Mali, with street children, in Uganda, with HIV children, and in Mombasa, Kenya, in an orphanage. I'm the author of the book called "Africa nos Sentidos", where I write about the travel adventures and state about the ins and outs of volunteering! So, I'm someone passionate about people, cultures and gastronomy! And as I love the history, the food and the culture of my own country, being a tourist guide couldn't be more prefect! Norberto was great. Our group of eight really enjoyed the tour. The Duoro Valley is amazing and Norberto showed us the highlights. The wine tasting at a small family vineyard was very memorable, as well as the lunch at another winery. We drank lots of Port and purchased some to take home. Norberto was very personable and we feel like we had made a friend by the end of the tour.
We had an absolutely phenomenal day with Norberto. He is knowledgeable, fun and easy to be with. This was one of our favorite days of the trip! I cant imagine a better guide.
