My name is André. I'm a historian, graduated in Oporto University and also a photographer. Porto, one of the most ancient European cities, stemming from the northern bank of the river during the Middle Ages. One of the most significant aspects of Porto and its historical centre is its surrounding landscape, the steep river banks providing a dramatic setting for the old town. In this unforgettable full-day itinerary, we will discover the beautiful north of Portugal, known for its beautiful natural landscapes and cities full of history and tradition. We start in Braga, the city of the archbishops, a city of Roman origin founded under the name "Bracara Augusta", known for its precious religious and artistic heritage. In Braga, we will visit one of the most important monuments in the North of Portugal: the magnificent Sé de Braga, considered the oldest in Portugal which, according to legend, was created by the apostle James in the year 45 AD. Afterwards, we will enjoy a pleasant walk through the streets of the historic center where we will find medieval buildings. Then in the medieval city of Guimarães, known as the "Birth of Portugal", as it was the first capital of the kingdom of Portugal, founded in 1143 by Afonso Henriques. the first King of Portugal. Here, we will have the opportunity to visit the imposing Castle and walk through the streets of the extremely well-preserved.
Excellent tour with Andre P in beautiful Braga and Guimarães for a Full Day Private Tour. Andre is very knowledgeable and ready to share a lot of info about the places we visited together. Easy to talk with him about customs in the region, politics, way of Portuguese life. He recommended us some local non tourist restaurants that we enjoy. The lunch we had together was very nice. A very pleasant trip.
Our day with Andre was very enjoyable, interesting and informative. Andre picked us up at our rental apartment right on time. He was very knowledgeable about Porto and our visited locations of Amarante and Guimaraes. He suggested we substitute a visit to Amarante for Braga (the tour's scheduled city) because our visit was during the week of Easter and the city would be extremely crowded due to religious events being held there. We were not at all disappointed with our visit to Guimaraes as it is a beautiful city with loads of history, but not overly crowded. Andre allowed us ample time to view what we were most interested in and made good recommendations for stores to visit and eating options along the way. We were delivered safely back to our apartment in a timely manner as described in the tour advertisement. Andre interacted with us in a jovial and informative manner throughout the day, insuring we enjoyed our tour with him.

Andre is very knowledgeable about history and architecture. Most of all, he is a great raconteur and imparted historical tidbits of which we were unaware. He is great company and we enjoyed our day out with him. Will definitely book with Andre again next time we are in Porto. Thank you for a great day out!
Spent the day with Andre exploring Braga and Guimares on foot. Andre's extensive knowledge of history and architecture (and sense of humor) helped us learn about Portugal's rich past and the huge roles these two charming cities played in it.
