Overview of your Porto tour
Barcelos, famous for its rooster legend and image which is depicted all over Portugal, has a lovely historical centre and one of the country's largest outdoor markets selling fresh local produce, flowers, linens, clothes, shoes, wicker, ceramics and homewares (only on Thursdays). If not market, you will wander the streets and dig deeper into the local lifestyle here. Next, you will visit Portugal's oldest town of Ponte de Lima, a Roman influenced town with picturesque manor homes and a few modest palaces. The highlight is the Roman bridge spanning the river displaying its 24 arches. Here too you will find local handicrafts of linen, tin, wicker and carpets. Arriving to the coastal town Viana do Castelo with a pristine centre and one of the "best 360 panoramic views" (by National Geographic), you will view the town from the hillside which is also graced with Santa Luzia Basilica and in the backdrop, a palace turned hotel (pousada). This is a wonderful mix of sites in a relaxing inviting environment!
