Nowa Huta Highlights half day Tour

I started doing this tour because I think people usually are not aware of a great diversity of experience about Nowa Huta they can get. It would be an amazing experience for you to visit the place with me. I am going to take you to the youngest district of Kraków which is well known for its communist history and architecture, the first pure socialist city without God. As we move around the city I'm going to show you a nice and convenient location among green areas to tell you how everything has been planned and serves the inhabitants to this day. We will confront rumors about the underground city of shelters under Nowa Huta with the shelter under the former Światowid cinema. We will discover various housing projects of the residential areas, theaters, cinemas, and shops representing socialist realism style. I will tell you about the places and structures connected to the fight for a democratic state. We will have a typical lunch in an original 'milk bar' with great selection of Polish food.

The tour starts at the hotel We are going to see: - The XIII-th century Cistercian Abbey Church and Monastery building in Mogiła - the first Parish Church for Nowa Huta residents. - The oldest housing estates in Nowa Huta. - The main entrance to the Tadeusz Sendzimir Steelworks which is dedicated for workers. - The Shelter under the Światowid Cinema. - The buildings of Nowa Huta Central Square, place where a statue of Lenin was placed during the communist times. We are going to visit one of 'the neighborhood units' to see the living conditions planned for working class. - The Rose Alley and Town Hall Park. - Stylowa restaurant - a relic of the past. - The People's Theater and The Soviet tank from World War II. - The symbolic Cross and The Ark of the Lord church. - After we will have lunch break in local "milk bar". * If you have a specific itinerary in mind send me a message and I'll customize the tour for you.
