Hi, I am Barbara and I welcome you to Krakow! To begin with my master's degree in history, earned at the most prestigious and oldest in Poland, the Jagiellonian University, gives me an unique position to be a real professional with deep historical knowledge. As a native Cracovian who has lived in the city for my entire life, I witnessed all important, sometimes history shaping events that took place here. Suffice to say I saw riots and tanks on the streets during the martial law in early 80', I saw the first visit of Pope John Paul II to still communistic homeland, which gathered millions, I witnessed the collapse of the system at the end of 80'. I also remember less profound but still important events like awarding of Nobel prizes firstly to Milosz and then to Szymborska or the making of Schindler's List by Steven Spilberg. Consequently as a guide, I usually share my memories with the tourists and as a trained historian I put those memories into wider context. With this way of storytelling I am trying to create more vivid and interesting image of my city in the minds of my clients and, most of all, to help them better understand the complex Polish history. The most important thing is that I love this job and I am passionate about Kraków. Krakow truly gives the opportunity to show the city from different perspectives - as a historical capital of Poland, artistic and cultural center, city of literature, or just the place where locals live their life with their joys and sorrows. I will be happy to share my knowledge and passion with you. Licensed Kraków City Guide (ID no. PM/12/07) Licensed Tour Leader (ID no. PW/144/10) Licensed guide in Schindler's Factory Museum Licensed guide in State Museum at Majdanek Concentration Camp (ID no. 014/2019/Pz) I am not a licensed guide, I don't guide in Auschwitz Museum and Memorial and I don't organize tours there. I am not a licensed guide and I don't guide in Wieliczka Salt Mine. My car can fit up to 3 people. It is a comfortable Honda Accord VII.

See the results of the utopian urban planning of the Stalinist era: apartment buildings, schools, theatres, wide streets. Climb Wanda Mound and see the area of one huge still works that employed 40000 people. Find out more about life in a socialist city, but also about Solidarity movement which ended with fall of communism in Poland. Take advantage of the unique opportunity of having lunch in real milk bar and see the Soviet tank from World War II. See housing projects from 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.
The tour starts with a stop at the XIIIth century Cistercian Abbey in Mogiła, the name which refers also to Wanda's Mound which is our next stop. We will see the view over steelworks and later we will stop also at the main entrance for workers. The tour continues in the oldest part of Nowa Huta, where we will see first apartment buildings in first housing projects, then we will proceed to the centre of Nowa Huta, Central Square, in the past dominated by a huge statue of Lenin. We will see characteristic features of socialist architecture and enter into a still existing and popular among locals milk bar (lunch possible).
