Hi, I am Barbara and I welcome you to Krakow! To begin with my master's degree in history, earned at the most prestigious and oldest in Poland, the Jagiellonian University, gives me an unique position to be a real professional with deep historical knowledge. As a native Cracovian who has lived in the city for my entire life, I witnessed all important, sometimes history shaping events that took place here. Suffice to say I saw riots and tanks on the streets during the martial law in early 80', I saw the first visit of Pope John Paul II to still communistic homeland, which gathered millions, I witnessed the collapse of the system at the end of 80'. I also remember less profound but still important events like awarding of Nobel prizes firstly to Milosz and then to Szymborska or the making of Schindler's List by Steven Spilberg. Consequently as a guide, I usually share my memories with the tourists and as a trained historian I put those memories into wider context. With this way of storytelling I am trying to create more vivid and interesting image of my city in the minds of my clients and, most of all, to help them better understand the complex Polish history. The most important thing is that I love this job and I am passionate about Kraków. Krakow truly gives the opportunity to show the city from different perspectives - as a historical capital of Poland, artistic and cultural center, city of literature, or just the place where locals live their life with their joys and sorrows. I will be happy to share my knowledge and passion with you. Licensed Kraków City Guide (ID no. PM/12/07) Licensed Tour Leader (ID no. PW/144/10) Licensed guide in Schindler's Factory Museum Licensed guide in State Museum at Majdanek Concentration Camp (ID no. 014/2019/Pz) I am not a licensed guide, I don't guide in Auschwitz Museum and Memorial and I don't organize tours there. I am not a licensed guide and I don't guide in Wieliczka Salt Mine. My car can fit up to 3 people. It is a comfortable Honda Accord VII.

Overview of your Krakow tour

One of the most important stories to be told in Krakow, one of the most interesting, but also tragic. As a historian specialist in the topic, I will tell you the history of over seven centuries of Jewish presence in Krakow showing you one of the best preserved Jewish districts in Europe with its unique synagogues, cemetery, and traces of Jewish pre-war life. The second part of the tour will be related to the tragic times of World War II when Jewish life as it used to be was destroyed. We will see not only an area of the former ghetto with a square which now bears the name of the Heroes of the Ghetto, but also a building of famous Schindler's Factory. During the tour, you will find out more about contemporary Jewish life in Krakow.

Deeply inclusive insights into Jewish Kazimierz included tidbits about the community and individuals that made it so special for this part of Eastern Europe over the years.

Barbara provided us with an in-depth introduction to one of the most moving and troubling periods in the history of her city. We will never forget it. She was also most understanding when we had some difficulty locating our meeting place and spent some additional time with us in order to complete our agenda. Her tips for making the most of our time in Jrakow were also very much appreciated.

Barbara was an outstanding guide, full of energy and facts, very knowledgable. She clearly has a passion for what she does, was able to do work arounds when sites where closed, I strongly reccomend her to discover Krakow.

I had the pleasure of having Barbara as my guide in Krakow on Monday, 4th June. It was a very positive experience which I thoroughly enjoyed. Barbara has great knowledge of the history of Krakow which she shares with passion and enthusiasm. I was delighted she took me to see Nowa Huta on the outskirts of Krakow where she highlighted the changing planning styles in housing through the various decades of the Communist era in Poland. I cannot compliment Barbara highly enough on the tour she provided for me.

Couldn't have asked for a better guide for this portion of our trip! While our guided trip at Auschwitz was very heart wrenching in every respect, our guided tour of the Jewish historical places in Krakow in other respects was the highlight of our trip.
