Welcome to Osaka and a wonderful region of Japan. Osaka is near Kyoto, the original capital of the country. The history of the two is intertwined through culture and food. In some ways trendy and in others traditional, the region offers many opportunities to learn, observe, and taste a wide variety of local cuisine. Family friendly walk in nature just 30 minutes from downtown Osaka
Overview of your Osaka tour
Enjoy an outing into the foothills of Osaka. Located just 30 minutes from central Umeda Station is Minoh, a beautiful area which is a protected quasi–National Park. Teeming with wildlife, it is possible to see deer, monkeys, river birds, and the rare giant salamander, which has been designated a national treasure. Minoh Falls is a 3km walk on a paved road. 350 meters of the 3km would be considered "uphill". Katsuo-ji Temple is renowned for its Daruma dolls. Located in the hills next to Minoh Park, Katsuo-ji is one of the more unique and pleasant temples to visit. The Daruma dolls and famous self-made postcards are perfect activities to keep the younger tourists interested. Food is also available at the Temple. Variations can include: Taxi or the popular walk from the Temple back to Minoh Station, once again passing Minoh Falls, 7km in total. Car (Toyota Prius) is also available to the Temple with maximum 5 travelers.
Your Osaka tour itinerary
- Meet at hotel or Minoh Hankyu Station. - Walk to 3km to Minoh Waterfall from Minoh Station. - Return to Minoh Station and take a short bus ride to Minoh Kayano Station for the direct tourist bus (25-minute ride) to Katsu-ji Temple. Food and drink are available at the Temple. - Return to the train station by bus, taxi, or a 7km walk. Note: The start time for this tour is flexible from 7 am to 11 am.
