My name is Fumiko, and I have been working as a professional guide since 2015. While I am new to ToursByLocals, I bring around 10 years of guiding experience and have welcomed travelers from many different countries. Over the years, I have helped guests experience Japan beyond the typical tourist route and gain a deeper understanding of its culture, history, and daily life. What Makes My Tours Different My guiding philosophy is authenticity. I do more than simply take guests from one sight to another. At each location, I share historical context, cultural insights, and local knowledge that help bring the place to life. I focus on providing accurate, well-researched information rather than simply repeating what can already be found online or in guidebooks. I enjoy helping guests understand not only what they are seeing, but also why it matters. Whether we are visiting a famous landmark or a quiet neighborhood, my goal is to help you see Japan through a deeper and more meaningful lens. I also enjoy introducing guests to places that many visitors would never discover on their own. Over the years, I have built a deep knowledge of hidden restaurants, small local eateries, old alleyways, traditional neighborhoods, and tucked-away spots that rarely appear in guidebooks. Some of my favorite places are the ones hidden in plain sight—places that locals pass every day, but most tourists walk right past. Every tour is tailored to your interests. Whether you are passionate about history, food, local culture, architecture, photography, or simply exploring at a relaxed pace, I adapt the experience to match what interests you most. A Local Perspective I was born and raised in Hyogo, right next to Osaka, and have spent most of my life in this region. Because I live here, I know not only the famous landmarks but also the hidden alleys, local neighborhoods, family-run shops, and lesser-known places that many visitors never discover. My long-standing connections with residents and business owners often lead to experiences that feel personal, authentic, and genuinely local. I enjoy introducing guests to the everyday side of Japan that exists beyond the major tourist attractions. A Traveler's Perspective I also bring a global perspective to my tours. Having traveled to around 40 countries, I understand what travelers are looking for when they visit a new destination. I know the questions visitors often have, the challenges they face, and the experiences that create lasting memories This experience helps me bridge the gap between local culture and international visitors in a way that feels natural, comfortable, and easy to understand. My Guiding Style Guests often describe my guiding style as friendly, flexible, and easygoing. I listen carefully, adjust plans when needed, and create a relaxed atmosphere where questions and conversations are always welcome. I enjoy sharing history clearly and engagingly, and I add humor when it fits naturally. Many guests tell me that the places they discovered during my tours became some of their favorite memories in Japan. Some even return to those hidden spots later in their trip because they enjoyed them so much. Food and Local Culture Food is another passion of mine. When I am not guiding, I am often exploring new restaurants, local eateries, and neighborhood food spots. I believe food is one of the best ways to understand a place, its people, and its culture. Whether you are looking for famous local specialties or small hidden gems known mainly to locals, I am always happy to share recommendations and introduce you to memorable dining experiences throughout Osaka and the surrounding area. If you would like to experience Japan through the eyes of a local, I would be happy to show you around and help make your visit special. I look forward to meeting you in Japan! A Small Note: If you enjoyed your tour, tips are always appreciated.
