Fukuoka Highlights, visiting two major sites, Nanzoin Temple and Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine by a private van

Although Fukuoka is a very big city, I did not know much about it prior to our tour. Our tour guide, Kate, was fantastic. She put together a very nice day. Our group was treated to a very interesting tour of shrines and temples in and around the city. Kate was very informative and especially kind.

Corresponding, in English, with Kayoko to set up & customize our tour was easy. She was on time to meet us at our hotel & the van hire she arranged was perfect for 5 of us, plus driver & Kayoko. Although it was raining, we did everything on our itinerary, saw the reclining buddha at the Nanzoin temple and enjoyed the unique & delicious food goodies leading up to the shrine at Dazaifu. Kayoko knew the best Dazaifu vendor for us to get the awesome, hot ume-gae mochi. This is not to be missed, even though your tummy is full from lunch. The driver recommended an udon restaurant for lunch on the way from Nanzoin temple & Dazaifu. We really enjoyed the restaurants specialties ohagi mochi, inari sushi & gobo tempura along with the hot & tasty udon with a huge piece of kitsune, seasoned fried tofu sheet. The restaurant's clientele were locals, not tourists, so we had an authentic experience. Kayoko is knowledgeable & informative of the historical facts and customs. Her English is easy to understand. Do not hesitate to hire her as a guide.

We had a wonderful day with Kayoko. She picked us up at the port and guided us through the day with expertise and knowledge. Kayoko took us to a local place for a delicious lunch. Don’t miss Nanzoin temple. We also saw other shrines, pagodas and the place of the 26 martyrs for Christ. It was a fantastic day and Kayoko could not have been better!
