Kitakyushu City is blessed with rich history, culture, nature, and good food! Let me show you around my hometown Kitakyushu. Kokura, downtown of the city, used to be a castle town. The city is located on the northern tip of Kyushu region, Kokura castle played an important role as a gate of Kyushu during the samurai period. After Japan started modernization at the end of the 19th century, Yahata Steel Works operated by the government was built, and the city flourished as a symbol of industrialization. Many companies gathered here to start the business. TOTO is one of them. TOTO, the world's leading toilet company, the headquarter is in Kokura. You should not miss visiting TOTO Toilet Museum! (Monday is closed)

9:00 Meet at Mojiko port in Kitakyushu, or your hotel in Kitakyushu (Kokura) Walk to the train station (5 min) and take a train to Kokura. (15min) Walk to Kokura Castle via the local shopping arcade and Tokiwa Bridge. 10:30 Kokura Castle & Japanese Garden (Optional: Tea ceremony experience at the Japanese Garden. Macha & seasonal sweets. 800 yen) 12:15 Lunch Take a taxi to go to TOTO Toilet Museum. 13:30 TOTO Toilet Museum Take a taxi to go back to Kokura train station, and take a train to Mojiko. Or end the tour at your hotel in Kitakyushu(Kokura) 16:00 Back to the ship * I can tailor the tour to your requests. Some recommendations as below. 1. Kawachi Wisteria Garden TAXI RT About 9, 000yen Wisteria season is from the end of April to the first week of May. Blooming is NOT guaranteed. NO REFUND if not bloomed or after blooming. We have to buy the entrance ticket in advance. 2. Tanga Market 3. Kanmon Strait tunnel, Akama shrine, Karato Fish Mark market in Shimonoseki.
