Hello! Thank you for reading my profile. My name is Hitomi. I lived in foreign countries for over 8 years, such as US, Canada, France, Australia, Singapore and Spain. I love traveling like you do. Besides traveling, I enjoy drawing, painting, cycling, cooking and eating delicious food! I was born in Kagoshima, grew up in Miyazaki and now live in Fukuoka(all in Kyushu island!). What I love about Kyushu island is that people are friendly, it's not too crowded and the nature is beautiful. And most importantly the food is delicious! We have fresh fish, seafood, meat and so many kinds of delicious dishes! I got my guide license in 2017 and I've been working as a guide since. I love this job because I get to meet people from all over the world. Learning new languages and getting touch with other cultures inspires me. I find every tour is different and unique, and for me this job is very challenging and fun! My wish is simple that you go home with lots good and fun memories. Please let me be a part of it! We take a train to go to Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine. The shrine is dedicated to a scholar and politician of the Heian period(794～1192). Over 10 million people visit this shrine, it is definitely one of the most famous and popular spots in Fukuoka. The pathway to the shrine, there are lots of small shops such as café, clothing, chopsticks, ice cream and don't forget to eat Umegaemochi, a popular sweets in Dazaifu (sweet bean paste inside rice cake) ! We have Tonkotsu Ramen(pork based soup ramen) in Tenjin or Nakasu. We take a bus to go to Fukuoka tower, enjoy the panoramic view of Fukuoka city!
This was a wonderful and well balanced tour. Hitomi took us to a beautiful and special shrine for scholarly success. We learned about the local annual festival where they make large wooden floats by hand and carry them 5 Km as a local competition dating back 700 years. We ate local delicious ramen and toured a local market. It was a perfect way to spend the day in Fukuoku.
Hitomi did a great job guiding our 6 person group. She was knowledgeable and her command of English was excellent. With her knowledge of the Reclining Buddha and familiarity with the area around Nakasu, we were able to fully enjoy our limited time in Fukuoka. She even introduced us to one of her favorite shops for Hakata ramen and it was delicious. All of us would highly recommend Hitomi for tours in the Fukuoka region. She is excellent!
