Hello! Thank you for reading my profile. My name is Hitomi. I lived in foreign countries for over 8 years, such as US, Canada, France, Australia, Singapore and Spain. I love traveling like you do. Besides traveling, I enjoy drawing, painting, cycling, cooking and eating delicious food! I was born in Kagoshima, grew up in Miyazaki and now live in Fukuoka(all in Kyushu island!). What I love about Kyushu island is that people are friendly, it's not too crowded and the nature is beautiful. And most importantly the food is delicious! We have fresh fish, seafood, meat and so many kinds of delicious dishes! I got my guide license in 2017 and I've been working as a guide since. I love this job because I get to meet people from all over the world. Learning new languages and getting touch with other cultures inspires me. I find every tour is different and unique, and for me this job is very challenging and fun! My wish is simple that you go home with lots good and fun memories. Please let me be a part of it! I am a national certified guide. I am not a driver. I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Overview of your Fukuoka tour

In this tour you can deepen your understanding of our culture and history of Japan. You will also experience Japanese culture of your choice. Ikebana (Japanese style flower arrangement) would be an interesting lesson to take. You can learn the difference from western style flower arrangement. There's also Hakata doll painting that you can paint on a traditional Hakata doll (pottery), take it home as a souvenir of Fukuoka! After the fun experience we visit one of the most known shrine and see a beautiful huge float which is used for an important festival that is held every summer in Fukuoka city. We visit Machida folk museum to watch a short documentary film of this festival later on. For lunch you can choose from Tempura, Tonkotsu ramen or Yakiniku(BBQ). At the end of the tour, we visit a temple to see a huge statue of Buddha. Important: If you choose flower arrangement, I need to check with a teacher for her availability.

Our tour around Fukuoka with Hitomi was fantastic. Had we attempted to see these things on our own it would have taken us days! But having Hitomi as our own personal guide made everything transition from one thing to another. She had a great knowledge of the area, never expressed a need for us to hurry or keep moving, and definitely helped immensely with our language barrier. I would highly recommend her tours to anyone looking to see the sights of Fukuoka and surrounds! Our highlights were the Hakata Doll Painting and the Fukuoka Tower!! Along with local Ramen for dinner!! Thank you SO much Hitomi! 🥰

Hitomi was an excellent guide! She exceeded expectations. She is personable, conscientious, and flexible. The personal notebook she offers, with notes and illustrations, speaks to her creativity and commitment to clients. We shared two wonderful days with her and are eternally appreciative for all the memories. Thank you, Hitomi-san.

My cousin and I had a wonderful experience in Fukuoka with Ms. Hitomi as our tour guide. She expertly led and executed our planned activities while also accommodating our specific needs and preferences. In addition to this, she shared insightful historical information about the locations we visited and provided clear guidance on any prohibited actions, particularly at temples and shrines. Her friendly, helpful, and polite demeanor made our trip even more enjoyable. We would definitely hire her again.

My original "open bus tour" was rained out. Luckily, I was able to reschedule. Having said this, I reached out to Hitomi and inquired if she did any other Fukuoka tours that wasn't so affected by rain. She recommended this one so I signed up. Fukuoka is an amazing city but not as amazing as Hitomi. Never thought that I would enjoy painting a Hakata Doll! Been to Japan many times but the day I spent with Hitomi ranks as my best! Hitomi is definitely the ultimate guide extraordinaire!!!

Hitomi was a lovely tour guide, personable and helpful. She shared her knowledge of local history and introduced me to local traditions and customs as we visited a Shinto shrine and a temple. I saw a short film about the amazing floats built for the races and for display at the annual festival in July; and we had lunch at a ramen restaurant that was busy feeding the local lunch crowd. I had fun painting a traditional doll while Hitomi took pics of me working. It was an informative and fun experience.

Hitomi was a great find on this site and we would love to have her show us around Fukuoka and other cities on our next visit. We had a few changes to our group and itinerary but Hitomi was gracious and understanding. Her English is excellent and gave one of the best tours we had during our 3 wonderful weeks in Japan. One of Hitomi's great strengths is her ability to vary the tour - to include the main "sightseeing" areas but also to explain and demonstate life in Japan as you go along. Wonderful.
