Hi, I'm Kaori, a National government licensed tour guide. I got a license in 2015. I currently live in Kitakyushu City with my husband and two daughters, and am very familiar with the tourism industry because I used to be a tour escort taking Japanese tourists around the world and Japan for 10 years. Not only in Kitakyushu city, but I can also guide people in many places in Fukuoka and surrounding areas in Kyushu and the mainland. I love to guide and customize tours with hospitality. Plus, I have lived in Gold Coast, Australia, and in Vancouver, Canada, working as a tour guide for Japanese tourists. I love traveling with my family and meeting new people from different cultures, just like you! And I love food (too much). I look forward to seeing you soon! Thank you. Check my TBL blog about Fukuoka below: https://www.toursbylocals.com/blog/best-things-to-do-fukuoka-japan *National licensed tour guide (English) *Licensed General Travel Service Supervisor *Licensed Tour Conductor * I do NOT guide for rental car users. *The maximum number is 8 if you hire a van, or 6 with public transportation. *I am not a travel agent. I do NOT sell a tour including admission, vehicle etc due to Travel Agency Act of Japan.

Dazaifu city is located about 20km (12 miles) far south of Fukuoka downtown and used to be the western capital of ancient Japan from the 8th to 12th century. *Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine is the most important Tenmangu shrine throughout Japan. It is dedicated the god of learning "Michizane" who was a scholar and politician in the 9th century in Kyoto. However, he was falsely accused and exiled from Kyoto to Dazaifu. He died in misery in two years after the exile. . . He was a real person, but why did people revere him as the god of education? Let me explain these answers during the tour. *Yanagawa, which used to be a castle town during the Edo period, is located about 70km (43 miles) away from Fukuoka downtown, and it is famous for punting boats in the moat of the castle. Enjoy calm and peaceful boat riding with me at Yanagawa Castle town. *Note: From May 2023, it will take about three years to renovate the main hall at Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine. In the meantime, we'll visit the temporary hall.
Take a Nishitetsu Train from Tenjin Fukuoka to Yanagawa. (about 50min) *You can pay Nishitetsu train ticket with 'a contactless credit card' (Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club). Yanagawa boat riding(60min), enjoy the peaceful scenery from the boat. lunch ( Unagi or eel is a local specialty in Yanagawa) Go back to Yanagawa train station, and take a train to Dazaifu.( about 45min) Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, sightseeing and taking photos! Window shopping at Dazaifu Take a Nishitetsu train to Tenjin (about 30min) End the tour at Tenjin train station in Tenjin, I'll show you a taxi or bus stop to back to the port or hotel. *I don't recommend taking this tour in summer (July-August) because it's too hot and humid on the punting boat in Yanagawa. You can choose not to take a boat and visit the Ohana Japanese garden by taxi.
