Hi, my name is Alessandro and I'm a passionate Sicilian archaeologist and tour guide. I hold a BA in Preservation of Cultural Herigate, with a specific focus on classical archaeology, completed by a further Postgraduate qualification in Sicily and Magna Graecia Archeology. My main research interest is on Magna Graecia and Sicily Archaeology, about which I published different scientific papers. I was also assistant to the Chair of Greek and Roman Archaeology at the BA Sciences of Tourism of the "Università degli Studi della Calabria". I have worked as an excavation supervisor in Abruzzo, Puglia, Calabria and Sicily. I am a Licensed Guide for Sicily since 2014. What I love most about my job is sharing my passion for the land with others and spreading knowledge of the territory and culture of Sicily as I know her. I am always delighted to guide my visitors into an unconventional world of archaeology, food, wine and traditions. According to me, a place must not only be visited, but felt and lived in all of its multifaceted features. This is the concept I have of any excursion. We must not be tourists, we have to be part of the society in which we stay, blending our customs with their way to live. I think that this belief, in combination with my expertise acquired through extensive and continuing academic research and high-grade studies, makes me a totally different kind of tour guide. According to me "Sicily must be experienced, leisurely and in depth". This is the philosophy through which I live on my island. BA in Classical Archaeology Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Archaeology Long experience of excavations in Sicily and South Italy Experience as assistant to the Chair of Greek and Roman Archaeology at the University Publications related to the field of Roman and Greek Archaeology Licensed Tour Guide for Sicily

The town of Noto is renowned for its exceptional Baroque heritage that inspired the Tuscan art critic Cesare Brandi to name it a "Stone Garden". Noto, listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002, is also the hub of a wide area, which is rich in important archaeological, architectural, and landscape data, extending from the Hyblaean plateau to the Ionian coast. After the tragic 1693 earthquake, Noto was rebuilt on the Meti Hill during the 18th century. Therefore, this reconstruction represents only a phase in the long and complex history of the town, whose origins are to be found in the Early Bronze Age. This tour will be interesting for geology, architecture, and archaeology lovers, as you will have the chance to understand how nature deeply impacts on the monumental history of a site. Thanks to my in-depth knowledge for this area, I will do my best to bring Noto's immense archaeological and architectural heritage to life for you.
He made our vacation wonderful.
Alessandro tailored this tour by meeting us at our accommodation in Ortigia, showing us ancient Siracuse and Ortigia, taking us to the markets for lunch and then on to Noto. Having the history of south east Sicily explained really helped us make sense of what we saw on this interesting tour. Alessandro is local, very knowledgeable and passionate about archaeology and architecture and it showed. Very interesting, enjoyable and relaxing tour. Recommended.
Allesandro is an outstanding guide. Our day with him in and near Noto was a real pleasure. We learned a great deal, especially about the archaeological sites. He was regularly filling us in on pertinent historical background that added greatly to our understanding of the built environment. He often enlarged, aptly, the context of his historical perspective and answered questions fully. He was never at a loss to say something interesting about a wide range of topics. It always a pleasure to listen to him.
Alessandro was very articulate, knowledgeable and patient. it was a great tour and we would recommend this tour highly
AMAZING experience being guided by an archaeologist with a tremendous knowledge base and a wonderful warm personality who is madly in love with the history of the area. FABULOUS!!
- Morning hike among the ruins of Noto Antica, inhabited since the 18th century BC. From the protohistoric Sikel tombs to the remains of Greek monuments, from the Christian and Jewish catacombs to the medieval castle, and the monuments of the 16th and the 17th centuries, you will travel through time. - In the afternoon, we will head to Noto, and start a stroll from the main street of the lower city: Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Here we will stop to admire the enchanting facades of the main churches, convents, and palaces. - After going into the Church of Santa Chiara and the Cathedral, we'll begin to ascend to the upper part of Noto along Via Corrado Nicolaci, where we will admire the 18th century sculpted balconies of the Nicolaci di Villadorata Palace. - The tour will continue in upper Noto, the area of the city mainly inhabited by the middle class, which also became the seat of other stunning monuments like the Church of Crocifisso and the Impellizzeri Palace. The itinerary can be customized upon request.
