Half Day Walking Tour of Ortygia - Syracuse

The island of Ortygia was the first site inhabited by the Corinthian settlers, and it contains the complex historical events of Syracuse among the streets of Greek origin, the walls of the Medieval buildings and the facades of the Baroque churches and palaces. Here, as one can seldom find elsewhere, myth and history, ancient and modern, pagan and Christian, light and shade, combine harmoniously with a natural backdrop of incomparable beauty. On this tour, we will walk along the alleys of Ortygia, that discloses exceptional Greek, Roman, and Late Antiquity monuments not only among the walls of Medieval and Baroque buildings but also under its "basolati" (stone-paved streets). Through my passion and love of archaeology, architecture and history, I will communicate the complex heritage and significance of this island in an easy to understand and enjoyable way.
