Hello, my name is Alessandra and I was born and grew up in Rome - a true local! I graduated in 1995 with a degree in Art History and have worked in art communication ever since. In developing didactic projects I've collaborated with Universities, Museums and Government Agencies. Most importantly, I spent several years at the MACRO (Museo Arte Contemporanea Roma) followed by even more years at the Trajan Markets (Imperial forums Museum). So, as you can see my interests in art range from the far past to the immediate present. For the past seven years I've worked as a private tour guide and I love it. I believe a walk through Rome is a walk through time, from the earliest settlement on the Palatine to the still busy artisan neighborhoods, from the Christian churches to the Jewish Ghetto. I specialize in tailor-made tours for first time or repeat visitors seeking more in depth knowledge of the city. Overview of your Rome tour
This stroll through Rome's historical centre, is a wonderful example of urban continuity in Rome: The astonishing palaces and fountains which witnessed the golden age of papal Rome, perfectly match the older remains and modern life. The popular Spanish Steps are an emotional setting for fashion shows, movie scenes and flower exhibitions. In the surrounding streets are the best designers and luxury shops. Going through the winding and narrow streets we come upon the spectacular Trevi fountain. In Piazza Navona, my favorite square, is the stunning Four River Fountain, by Bernini. We then see the Pantheon, the only Roman building that has remained practically intact: it was erected as a temple, it was later turned into a church. On our way we meet other evidence of the Imperial time: monumental columns, obelisks, ruins. . Strolling through this ever surprising city aided by maps, drawings, photos and writings of each historical period, we'll penetrate and truly experience Rome as true local!
Your Rome tour itinerary
-Spanish Square -Fountain of the Barcaccia -Trevi Fountain -Remains of Virgin Water aqueduct -Piazza Colonna -Temple of Hadrian -Pantheon (inside) -Navona Square -Fountain of Rivers -Coffee break in a traditional coffee shop where they roast their own coffee beans. The itinerary can be customized according to your needs and requests. Generally in all the Roman historical monuments and churches dress code for both men and women requires shoulders and knees to be covered. Shorts and skirts are fine, but below knees. Do not bring large items (e. g. large bags, backpacks, long umbrellas…) Distance: we'll cover in average 2 km. Please write me if there are people with mobility problems and if you use or need a wheelchair.
