Riace Bronzi Statues and Messina Museums Full Day Tour

Hi! I am Salvina a local Sicilian guide that have been doing this job for 20 years! Everyone says that I am a sunny and joyful person, so I hope my optimism is part of your journey! First we will admire and visit the Reggio museum, one of my favorite sites for the incredible collections of the remains of Greek settlements in Southern Italy. The Bronzes, the two famous statues, will leave you breathless for their beauty and grandeur, two masterpieces made at the end of the 5th century BC. Whenever I see them, I am magnetized by their perfection. We will then proceed to visit the Messina museum where you will be amazed by the paintings of Caravaggio, my favorite Italian artist of the seventeenth century, Caravaggio Washington a vero compless soul. Then we will look at the leading Messina painter Antonello da Messina and his school. These excursions clearly address topics of art and history!

Start from your hotel in Taormina or Messina port or nearby areas. - Ferry boat from Messina port to cross the strait to Italy side. - Visit the museum of Reggio Calabria. First we admire the Bronzi of Riace, then we take a look at the others greek sections. - Time for a lunch break and return in Messina to visit the Regional Museum. - This museum differently from the one in Reggio. It has a large collection of paintings, the old sicilian schools influenced by European main artists, important are the works of local Antonello da Messina and his studio, Girolamo Alibrandi, etc. Our attention will be on the masterpiece of the revolutionary art of Caravaggio from the XVIIth ( fortunately he was in Messina so we keep these beautifull works). - After had a panoramic view of Messina and take some photos we will drive back at your hotel or the cruise ship.
