Hello, my name is Melissa and I'm a Licensed Tourist Guide. I was born in a little and characteristic village overlooking Lake Como and I still live here with my family. My two daughters take the hydrofoil every morning to reach Como to go to high school and I drive every morning from north to south, from east to west to meet my guests in villages and towns. I can say, without any doubt, that we are a real local family. Lake Como isn't just my home but it's something I feel in my soul, in my heart, in my mind. I think that for my job, knowledge is essential. To be a professional tourist guide it is important to have a rich cultural background in history, art, botany and to know all the secrets of the area. I really like to share my passion for traditions, local products and food with my guests and to give them an explosion of emotions they will remember when they go home. During the low season I follow lessons, lectures and courses to improve my own skills and I like to travel to see new countries and to visit museums and art exhibitions. I am a very active person and my hobbies are walking in the mountains and running. I find these activities a way to relax my mind but sometimes I also enjoy laying on the sofa and reading a book. I always tell my guests that one visit is not enough to get to know Lake Como so once you've been here, you need to come back! I'm waiting for you. . . We will spend the first hour reaching Brunate, situated on the top of the mountain above Como, by funicular. Once there we will have a nice walk to find the panoramic point, it'll be something special! From there we will see the lake, the ancient Roman structure of Como, Milan and the Alps. The other two hours are dedicated to visit the old downtown of Como. We will walk in a pedestrian area through the elegant streets of the town and we will visit the rich Cathedral, the charming squares and buildings, that are perfect examples of the different architectural styles of the city. We will admire the amazing 14th century Cathedral of Como, we will take a look at the ruins of an ancient Roman hotsprings. You will see the medieval town center. Walking across the old town, you will listen to a short story about the most famous people who lived in Como. Then we will see from the lakeside the most famous villas around the lake. It'll be a day of amazing views and memories!
Our booked guide could not make the tour; however, TBL found an excellent replacement in Corrado. He was knowledgeable, charming and accommodating. From the trip on the funicular to Brunate and its magnificent views of Lake Como and beyond, to walking the lovely streets of Como, Corrado's apparent love for his city shone through. Although he is not a regular TBL guide, we were lucky to have him.

What can I say, but Melissa was amazing. She met us at the train station and was vert organized & thoughtful around how to order the tour so that we weren't stuck in lines. Melissa was incredibly knowledgeable, she was engaged, and extremely personable. She had wonderful recommendations. Finally, she helped us get tickets for a post tour excursion. She made our day trip to Como the highlight of our 12 days in Italy. I highly recommend Melissa - we'll be back and hope to tour with her again. Bellissimo!

Shorts and skirts are fine, but below knees. Do not bring large items (e. g. large bags, backpacks, long umbrellas…) on tour because they are not permitted.

This is a walking tour. To reach Brunate we'll catch the Funicolar, public transportation. Funicular might be closed/ not working in certain days because of strikes or unexpected maintenance works. In this unlikely case, we could reach Brunate by taxi (not included)
