Como Baradello Castle Half Day Hiking Tour

Do you know why the castle of Baradello has always been so loved by the locals? It’s not hard to say once you’ve been there: it’s not far from the city, you can get there with an easy walk in a protected natural area and last but not least, there is an incredible view on the surroundings! Built , immediately after the fall of the Roman Empire, as a watchman of the city, it was destroyed and rebuilt in the Middle Ages. Destroyed again, what is perfectly preserved is the tower from which we will enjoy an incredible view. In its stones we can literally read a piece of European history. I’ll teach you how to do it and you’ll find out how easy it is once you figure out the trick! Inside the tower there is a museum showing all the finds that were found in the excavation area during the last restoration dating back to Roman times. We will go on the roof of the tower, climbing metal and wood stairs, pretend to have gone back in time, to see if the enemy comes from the Alps, from the lake or from Milan.

We will meet in Como and in about 40 minutes we will leave the city behind us and find ourselves in the woods of a natural park. In another half hour's walk we will reach the castle tower that dominates the city. The visit of the ruins and of the inside of the tower, takes about one hour, but once you come out of the walls you can relax a little bit in the parade ground, overlooking the city and the lake. We will then go back by a different path, where I can show you some other interesting things. In about 1 hour we will get just outside the city centre.
