Bologna is famous in Italy and around the world for its gastronomic soul. It’s no coincidence that it’s affectionately called 'La Grassa' (The Fat One), as a testament to its rich & indulgent cuisine! Its culinary heritage, primarily based on pork meat & egg pasta, allows us to delve into how food is deeply intertwined not only with the region’s fertile land & climate but also with the cultural influences & dominions that shaped its history over centuries. While exploring 2 vibrant historical markets, you'll taste and uncover the fascinating stories behind the king of Emilia Romagna's cheeses, Parmigiano Reggiano, the unmistakable flavour of authentic mortadella, Bologna’s traditional cold cuts & the celebrated tagliatelle al ragù. All this will be perfectly complemented by a glass of fine local wine & a delightful sweet surprise (a traditional dessert!). This will not just be a food tour but an unforgettable journey into the heart of Bologna's authentic culinary tradition & unique gastronomic soul!
-After meeting by the Ugo Bassi statue, we'll step into the Mercato delle Erbe. -Once we've explored that market, we'll walk a couple of blocks towards the Mercato di Mezzo. -After visiting both markets and tasting our emblematic Parmigiano Reggiano and some Mortadella, we'll go to a local Osteria for a tasting of traditional handmade pasta paired with a glass of wine to wrap up the tour! If you have any dietary restrictions please let me know. The itinerary can be customized to your preferences and may change according to the opening hours of the shops. Since we'll be walking in between our stops and across the markets, I suggest wearing comfortable shoes. Since we'll also be tasting salty dishes, I recommend having a bottle of water with you as well. If you book this tour during the winter, don't forget bringing a raincoat or small umbrella to cover you in between the spots in case it rains.
