In a nutshell: Experienced and CERTIFIED tour guide specializing in tours for guests from the US and Canada • native German speaking English without German accent • my tours are interesting but not overwhelming: knowledge in well-measured doses • sense of humor (yes!) • M. A. translator • traveler • mother • love what I do The longer story: For several years now I've been happily guiding guests from overseas around Regensburg, and I do take my job very seriously in order to deliver high-quality tours. My tour philosophy is: edutainment. For me this means to make history come alive and to give you just the right amount of information on the places we visit without getting lost in too many details. After all, I want you to enjoy yourselves and to have a good time. Believe it or not - Germans do have a sense of humor, too. Originally, I am from northern Germany, but I have been living in Regensburg and the greater area for about a decade, and from the first moment I have been in love with this town - the original medieval buildings, the romantic small alleys and the lovely plazas - it's impossible not to love Regensburg. So I am always happy to share my enthusiasm for this place with anyone who is interested! I completed the guide training courses of two local tour agencies, which included written and practical exams, in 2009 and 2015. Apart from that I have never stopped reading and learning about Regensburg's history. My English is truly fluent as I lived in the US as a teenager for the high school year of 2001/02. Plus, I have been studying and working with the English language for over 20 years now. I hold a Master's degree in translation as well. Before my son was born, I worked as a full-time tour guide; even in the US and Canada where I guided German travelers around on bus tours. Now, as a mother, I fully concentrate on Regensburg. So let me make sure your time here will be great. I'm looking forward to being your host! Member of the German Association of Tourist Guides (BVGD). Tour guide training including written and practical test for the city of Regensburg. Training for guiding tours in Munich. Member of the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDUE). I do not have a permit to take you around in my car. I do not have a license for guiding inside St. Peter's Cathedral or to guide inside any other church in Regensburg.

Overview of your Munich tour

Just 1.5 hours from Munich lies Regensburg with its colorful crooked houses and impressive historic mansions, small cobblestone alleys and medieval boulevards, lively squares and hidden quiet places. Unique little shops, food for every taste, tree-shaded beer gardens, Italian-flair plazas with cafés. Regensburg is simply charming! Yet, it is anything but normal: Spared by bombs in World War II, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the biggest original medieval city of Germany. 2000 years of history make for many stories to tell! I've been a certified native German guide for years and speak English fluently without an accent. On this tour, you'll learn a lot about Regensburg's general and Jewish history by listening to stories that are easy to follow along to; I won't overwhelm you with facts and figures. We'll talk about peaceful and glorious times in town, but also about dark times for Regensburg's Jews in the Middle Ages and the recent past. We'll also chat about everyday life and answer your questions.

Christine Baron was an exceptional tour guide, full of current and historic information about Regensburg and the surrounding areas. She accommodated us by walking at a slower pace and stopping as we needed to. She was delightful to be with. I highly recommend her as a tour guide for any of your needs. She was the consummate guide and just what we needed.
