Overview of your Helsinki tour
This wonderful active adventure covers everything you want to experience about the nature and birds in Helsinki. We will visit the nature sites which are quite easily accessible by a car, but for bird watching we need to walk and hike in the forest, sea meadows and swamp areas as well. Whooper swans stay on until sea shore freezes, at best in flocks of over a hundred birds. White-tailed eagles, golden eagles, dippers, kestrels, mergansers, geese and Peregrine falcons have also been spotted in the Viikki nature and coastal meadows. Finally we will discover both by car and walk the hidden green treasures around Viikki and Herttoniemi district! Our timetable is very flexible. Water, sodas, coffee, sandwiches or lunch included.
Your Helsinki tour itinerary
Pickup as agreed - 15 min drive to Viikki via Old Helsinki city rapids (dippers thrive here) - Walk to our first bird watching site, where I have just recently discovered white-tailed eagle - Following to the several other bird watching sites for goldfinch, starling, citrine wagtail, nightingale, willow warbler, reed warbler, tufted bunting, white-tailed godwit, tree climber, gander, wood goose, yellow-billed tern, grey heron, long-eared owl, common snipe etc. - Coffee, sodas, sandwiches by the old mansion in the woods - Walk to the higher bird watching tower in the Lammassaari area for the eagles and falcons - Walk to the Kuusiluoto island where the sheep graze freely *Lunch ( if the weather is very cold and rainy, me might have our lunch indoors somewhere nearby) - 1,5 hour excursion by car, short walking around Viikki and Herttoniemi nature districts (erratic boulders, hazel grows, badger woods, rocky crags) Note: You may add a local Finnish traditional sauna experience for the later evening!
