Welcome! I'm Peter, a licensed Helsinki guide who is interested in the history of this land, inspired by Helsinki's combination of architectural styles and always searches for new landmarks in the capital. My guiding journey started back in 2013 and since then I have had the privilege to share my knowledge and passion with thousands of visitors, and I dearly hope that you will be one of them too! My specialty is to deliver Helsinki and Porvoo private tours. There are certain Helsinki gems that specifically inspire me in the capital yet are out of the beaten path: the Seurasaari island museum with wooden houses that were brought here from different regions in Finland, the Sibelius monument, the wooden Kamppi chapel with a combination of 3 types of wood, the Rock Church, the Eira district from the 1910s and much more. This being said, your wishes can be customized to more unique spots to visit, such as for example the Helsinki Winter Garden opened in 1893, or the Finlandia concert hall, a masterpiece of Alvar Aalto. As for Porvoo, I am fascinated by poems of Runeberg, first Finnish national poet who never wrote in Finnish. I like to visit Nasin kivi hill that provides astonishing old city view and medieval church that was first Catholic and now welcomes Lutheran Finns and Swedes in its walls. I have a Master's in Classical philology, thus I see the power in words. I also hold a Master's in Religious studies from Helsinki University, and as for profession I have decided that history and Finnish culture are my priorities. If you are interested in my tours or want to visit other specific places, please tell me about your interests and I will do my best to accommodate them, suggest options, and make your time in Helsinki memorable and valuable.

In this tour I will show you why Helsinki is one of the best cities to live in. You'll be amazed by its cleanliness, safety and thoughtful design in every detail. Helsinki is a modern city full of eclecticism, where diverse architectural styles blend together. You'll find Neo-classicism in the Senate Square, Finnish Romanticism in the Eira district with its traits of a medieval castle, and, in contrast, Finnish minimalism in 20th-century contemporary buildings. For me personally, as a Philologist and Theologian, the best way to get acquainted with Finnish culture is through the meaningful simplicity of its Cathedral and the quiet contemplation of its libraries. On this tour, we will visit two churches and a library, immersing ourselves in local life. Meanwhile, the Market Hall will offer a glimpse into what Finns prefer to have on their dinner tables. This tour is of course customizable to your personal interests and wishes.
