Discover the capital of the happiest country in the world with me! My name is Nadia and I am an authorized Helsinki Tour Guide, and Helsinkian by choice. I’ve been living in the city since 2009, and over the years I’ve had the privilege of welcoming guests from all walks of life and from many different cultures. With a PhD background in history and years of guiding experience, I specialize in making Finland’s past and present easy to understand and engaging for everyone. Thanks to my solid knowledge of global history, I help visitors see how Finland fits into wider world events—translating local history into a story that feels familiar and relevant, no matter where you come from. Not a history fan? Don't worry! Having taught history to teenagers, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea and I'll make sure you enjoy your tour! Guests often tell me they appreciate my warm, approachable style and the way I connect with people of all ages and cultures. I design each tour around your interests—whether it’s history, architecture, design, or everyday Finnish life—making sure you leave with both knowledge and memorable experiences. And if you don’t see a tour that perfectly fits your needs among my offers, I’ll be happy to create a personalized one just for you. If you are looking for a culturally aware, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic guide who can open up the story of Helsinki in an accessible and personal way, I would be delighted to show you around. Explore Helsinki through its flavors and stories. This walking tour combines city highlights with foods that reflect Finland’s way of life. Along the way you might try fresh fish or game meats from our forests, enjoy traditional rye bread and Karelian pies, and end on something sweet — pulla or Finnish chocolate— with coffee, of course, since no visit here is complete without it. Your tour includes two tastings (one savory, one sweet), plus coffee or tea, and a sample of chocolates. If you’d prefer a traditional lunch instead, I can arrange that. Every walk is flexible and can be adapted to your taste. Why not end it with drinks? Sunday tours are available on request, with routes adjusted depending on what’s open.
-Our tour begins in the Senate Square, with the Lutheran Cathedral being its main sight to see. -We’ll then visit Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral (closed on Mondays) and pass by the Presidential Palace and Market Square on our way to the Old Market Hall. -Once in the Old Market Hall, we'll start to learn about Finland's food traditions and taste fish and/or meat and rye bread. -After seeing the Esplanade, we’ll head to one of the classic cafes in town to enjoy a sweet bun or pie. -We'll then visit the Oodi Library and proceed to see the exterior of other iconic buildings like the Parliament and the Music Center. -We’ll finish our tour by picking some traditional chocolates. Please note that the order of visits and the place of tastings may be adjusted based on opening hours or pick-up point to make the best use of your time.
