I have worked since 2001 as an authorized guide in Helsinki. I am fascinated about modern Finland and what we have achieved as a country with 5 million people in technology as well as with art. Naturally history is important to understand where we are today. These are things I enjoy to tell visitors. In 2004 I was proude to have been elected best tour guide in Helsinki. But I know quite a few other places in Finland too so going out of Helsinki is no problem for me. You are welcome to make request for tours that are not included on my pages and I will be happy to make a customised tour for you. So when you look at my published tours and you can not find exactly the one you would like to make please tell me. I can do. October 2023 Finland was accepted to Nato Spring 2023. We have the longest land border with Russia than any other European Union country. This is an important thing for us and I can and will tell you more why we are now worried Russia. Tours in English, Spanish, German, Swedish and Finnish. You are always welcome to Finland! Be my guest. I am authorized guide in Helsinki and born in Finland. 2004 I was elected best guide in Helsinki by Helsinki Experts, an incoming agency in Helsinki. I studied economics and have a BS.Econ degree so I am fairly good with the Finnish economics too.

Our capital Helsinki is very much a walkable town. Pedestrians are getting more and more space to walk safely and all official buildings can be entered easily. During this tour we will naturally see buildings and sights that are famous. But when walking from one sight to an other we will see the things that are kind of hidden but have intresting stories to tell. Join me please. I walk a lot on my free timbals partly because we have a siberian husky dog at home. A good place to start is the market place in the Southern harbour of Helsinki. Close by we have the Senate Square a reminder of about 100 years we were part of the Russian empire. During our walk I will tell you about what is Finland today and what it was earlier. This was not a melting pot but people came from the east, the south and the west. No one came from the north as that is where the cold sea is.

Ralf was great. We walked all over the city at a reasonable pace and learned so much. He was able to get us to the top of a hotel for a panoramic view. His knowledge of Finland and Helsinki in particular really gave us an understanding of the history and culture. We highly recommend him.
Such a great tour and guide. We saw so many things and loved them all.
Ralf did a fine job. His pacing was perfect for us - not too fast, not too slow. In addition to the historical information, he included lots of current, contemporary issues. Nice visit!
Ralf is an exceptional local guide with intimate knowledge of Helsinki's history, architecture, and culture. We booked a walking tour with him to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Helsinki at the start of our trip, and we covered a wide range of local sights on this Discovering Helsinki experience. He went above and beyond. I cannot recommend Ralf enough for the local and unique perspective he shared with us. Do yourself a favor and choose him if he's available!
As first-time visitors to Helsinki, Ralf gave our family a wonderful overview of this beautiful city during our walking tour. If you're headed to Helsinki, let Ralf show you around - you'll have a great time with him!
During our walk we would see the Esplanades, the heart of Helsinki. Then we would walk trough the big main Railway station, a work of Eero Saarinen a famous Finnish architect. Later we will discover a group of buildings including our new music house and an older Finlandia building, work of Alvar Aalto. We will not miss Oodi our new library that is also a living room for local people and visitors as well. If your trousers need some mending you can fix it in Oodi. Please have an other pair to use during the mending. Yes, there are sewing machines in the library. The Rock Church built in the bedrock of Helsinki is also famous for its architecture. And suggestion from your side are naturally wellcome. For 9 euros you can have day ticket to our trams, busses and underground.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
