Hello dear traveler, my name is Zdenko. I was born in unique city of Dubrovnik half a century ago and lived most of my life in this Paradise. I spent some years working on cruise ships at Florida and the Caribbean and in November of 1999 I came back home. Since then I have been working in tourism business here in "Jewel of the Adriatic", most of all as tourist guide and driver. My home town is a living monument, a mixture of breath taking nature, architecture, history and art. Living out of Dubrovnik for some years made me even more appreciate my home town if I ever had any doubts in my younger days. One of the reasons why I decided to become a professional tourist guide is meeting people from all over the world and presenting them the most amazing sights of this medieval city with it's beautiful surroundings. I still enjoy in stunning panoramic sights myself and it makes me really happy to share it with travelers from different parts of the world. This is the short introduction tour of inside the Old Town designed to show you the Dubrovnik's most significant monuments. In two hours I will walk you through the Old Town, pedestrian zone and see the most interesting sights of Dubrovnik with experienced local tour guide - that is me! I will make sure that you don't miss any of the most important locations of this marvelous living museum while some of the tourist may miss to see a few of them walking by themselves. This tour is designed for the tourists with a limited time on their disposal to explore Dubrovnik, the ones which staying in Dubrovnik just for couple of hours, like Cruise Ships passengers. It could be also arranged as a part of an extended tour with some sights in surrounding of Dubrovnik like Cavtat, Ston and Arboretum for those ones with more time on their disposal. I'll be glad to provide you with insider information about its turbulent recent years and share a fascinating history of the old Republic times with you as well.
Your Dubrovnik tour itinerary
After we meet at the agreed enterance to the Old Town, I recommend Pile Gate (west entrance) but it is possible to start with the Ploce Gate (east entrance) instead, we shall start with our tour and you will get to: -Walk in, over the drawbridge. -Stop by Map of war demage. -Walk through the entrance to the main street of the Old Town called "Stradun" by the local people or correctly "Placa". -As we walk the streets of the Old Town we'll see all significant monuments of Dubrovnik; -Dominican Monastery -Franciscan Monastery with the oldest still running pharmacy in Europe -Large Onofrio's Fountain -Small Onofrio's Fountain -Church of St. Blaise -Dubrovnik Cathedral -Rector's Palace -Sponza Palace -Orlando's Column (15st) one of the symbols of Dubrovnik's liberty At the end of the tour I will escort you to the meeting point or some other point you prefer in the Old Town.
