Hello dear Travelers! My name is Nikolina, I live and work as a tour guide in Dubrovnik . For a couple of years I lived and worked in Italy. It was an amazing experience for me! Since I graduated Russian language & Linguistics at Zagreb University in 2003. I have been working as a tour guide in Dubrovnik. In 2006. I attended a course and obtained a license for a professional tour guide for Dubrovnik & Neretva County. For twenty years I guide different tours in English, Russian and Italian languages. I adore my job because every day is a challenge. I meet different people from different parts of the world and I have an opportunity to bring them closer so many things Dubrovnik has to offer. Dubrovnik has always been an amazing town and I'm sure that after the tour with a local guide You will agree with me. If You stay in Dubrovnik (or Cavtat) for a few days, there are many interesting places to visit. If You are interested in culture and tradition, I tailored this tour for You. After walking in the Old city of Dubrovnik your private driver will take us to the countryside. In one of the picturesque villages of the Konavle region, we will visit a 400-year-old water-mill that used to be in function till 1960. While You taste Loza (grappa) or Cherry brandy my friend Ivo, the owner of the mill, will explain how people used to make flour and wool products, using the power of water. You will be amazed!!! The last break we'll make in Cavtat, a small and charming town, a hometown of Vlaho Bukovac - a famous local painter. Nikolina is charming, intelligent and energetic. She also really knows her stuff about Dubrovnik. There are many good guides. Nikolina was a great one! When part of our tour fell apart (through no fault of her own) Nikolina adjusted and we still had a wonderful time. She also gave us a partial refund— on the spot — for the part of the tour we missed. I highly recommend Nikolina and her stop in the Countryside. The best spot for lunch we had on our trip!!
Sadly, Nikolina emailed the day before saying she had tested positive for Covid. BUT, she didn't just cancel, she went the extra mile to contact a colleague and worked out for us to take the same tour with Jelica. This was amazing!!! The tour itself, that Nikolina set up, and Jelica as a guide! We were so worried about missing the tour, I am so thankful that Nikolina worked it out for us! Dubrovnik is beautiful! It isn't just a place you say "that was nice to visit," we fell in love with it!!
Very interesting and comfortable guided tour. I booked it for my old parents and they were very happy about my decision to do so. The guide Nikolina Penzo was very attentive, friendly and informative. Parents learned a lot and enjoyed at the same time. Very nice and kind communication made it more enjoyable as well. Thank you Nikolina very much for your time, professionalism and friendliness towards my parents if we ever decide to come back to the Dubrovnik we definitely will go for a tour with you again!
This wine and dinner tour to a local winery and taverna was a delightful experience. Another great tour provided by Nikolina. She set it all up and it was an experience we will never forget! It was amazing. I highly recommend contacting Nikolina at Tours By Locals to assist in any tour you would like to experience. Her knowledge of Croatian history provides a very informative perspective on all her tours. She's great!
Nikolina was absolutely amazing! She was very knowledgeable - full of information about her country, & able to answer all of our questions. She was also very personable, a delightful person with whom to spend a day. Our tour was perfectly planned, with a wonderful variety of experiences that enabled us to learn about and appreciate the unique country of Croatia. For a special treat, be sure to ask Nikolina about the brewery in which she and her husband are part owners. It makes for a perfect tour ending!
An excellent day . Nikolina was very knowledgeable and professional and gave us information we would have missed in a big group tour. It was a good balance of old city , the water mills and then beautiful Cavtat. The pace was just right to absorb everything and look around and not too strenuous if you are slow walker. We had an excellent lunch in Cavtat . I would recommend this tour and Nikolina 100%
Suggested itinerary: - meeting at the exit of the passenger terminal in the port/hotel - transfer by a private car to the Old town - during our walking tour you'll learn about the Franciscan monastery, the Onofrio's fountain, Rector's Palace etc - scenic drive to the region of Konavle with the photo break - visit of the water mill; tasting - visit of Cavtat - return back to the port/hotel Note: This is my suggested itinerary.
