Hi, my name is Mato and I am licensed tourist guide in Dubrovnik since 2014. I was born and raised in Dubrovnik some 50+ years ago. I started my career in tourism in 1988. working as a receptionist. I never left this "Pearl of Adriatic", not even in those hard times in '90. 's. On the contrary I volunteered to defend my home. Until three years ago I was also Front desk manager at 5* hotel in Dubrovnik for 9 years and I decided to leave hotel bussines and continue as a local guide with a passion for history and more than 30 years experience in tourism. Mato is a native of Dubrovnik and he is a wonderful person to introduce someone (like myself) who is visiting for the very first time. Not only does he know the history of the region, he can speak so well and so intelligently about religion, art, culture and politics--and he does so in a way that is not like a lecture, but more of a conversation. Being a veteran of the most recent war (in the early 1990's) he speaks personally and movingly of the human toll of modern warfare.

Comfortable shoes, a hat and a sun blocker are recommended as well as a bottle of water.
