Hi, my name is Mato and I am licensed tourist guide in Dubrovnik since 2014. I was born and raised in Dubrovnik some 50+ years ago. I started my career in tourism in 1988. working as a receptionist. I never left this "Pearl of Adriatic", not even in those hard times in '90. 's. On the contrary I volunteered to defend my home. Until three years ago I was also Front desk manager at 5* hotel in Dubrovnik for 9 years and I decided to leave hotel bussines and continue as a local guide with a passion for history and more than 30 years experience in tourism. So, I am ready to present you both, ancient and recent history of my city. Of course, if you have some special interest, we can customize my regular tours. I am looking forward to meeting you and to adjust your tour to to exceed your expectations. Licensed Tour Guide for Dubrovnik - Neretva County , Master Degree in Business and Economy, Professional licenced driver. None.

In this two hours tour you just uncover the top of the cake. We'll go through the whole timeline of Dubrovnik, from the beginning to today completed with some curiosities that you won't find at published guide books and on our way you will be able to take many nice photos of ancient "Pearl of Adriatic" that George Bernard Shaw described "those who seek paradise on Earth should come to Dubrovnik". And not only history. I'll be happy to answer to all your questions where to: go, eat, drink, shop, entertain. . . . to experience Dubrovnik.

Mato was very informative with many wonderful stories. Will book on next visit!
Mato did an excellent job and included personal information as a native who has lived here his entire life. It was a relaxed and extremely enjoyable tour with lots of great information and history. Strongly recommend.
Our walking tour with Mato was enjoyable and we learned a lot. He was flexible with our request for rescheduling. I would recommend Mato!
Such an amazing guide. Mato tailored the tour to my exact requirements and it was honestly like being shown around Dubrovnik by a friend. Would recommend 100%.
Mato is a native of Dubrovnik and he is a wonderful person to introduce someone (like myself) who is visiting for the very first time. Not only does he know the history of the region, he can speak so well and so intelligently about religion, art, culture and politics--and he does so in a way that is not like a lecture, but more of a conversation. Being a veteran of the most recent war (in the early 1990's) he speaks personally and movingly of the human toll of modern warfare.
No matter if we start from Pile or Ploce gate, after an introduction about Dubrovnik's timeline, we'll pass next to: - Dominican monastery -Sponza Palace ( medieval business centre ) - main, Placa street -St. Blase church ( patron saint of Dubrovnik ) -Rector's Palace ( the seat of Dubrovnik's goverment ) - Old city port, Cathedral - Franciscan monastery ( the oldest European still existing pharmacy ) - Big Onofrio's fountain -Orphanage ( public secret of Dubrovnik's nobles ) Of course, if you have any specific interests, this tour can be customized by your preferences. Comfortable shoes, a hat and a sun blocker are recommended as well as a bottle of water.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
