Guide #28023
After travelling to more than 30 countries and 100 cities, I still believe Kraków is one of the best places in the world to visit... and to live. Maybe it’s because of the legendary Wawel Chakra, said to be one of the world’s mysterious places of energy. Maybe it’s the extraordinary mix of medieval Kraków, Jewish Kazimierz and the communist legacy of Nowa Huta. Or maybe it’s simply the pierogi and kiełbasa. You’ll have to decide for yourself. I’ve been guiding in Kraków and across Poland for over 11 years, welcoming thousands of travellers from more than 80 countries. But I don’t believe a great tour should feel like a history lecture. I prefer stories, humour, unexpected connections and conversations. I adapt every experience to the people I’m travelling with - their interests, pace and curiosity. Sometimes that means discovering hidden corners of Kraków; sometimes tasting Poland; sometimes travelling across the country; and sometimes following a century-old document to a tiny village where someone’s great-grandparents once lived. One of my particular passions is ancestry travel. I help travellers with Polish roots research their family history and then create personalized journeys to ancestral towns and villages, churches, cemeteries, archives and places connected with their family’s story. There is something very special about watching someone stand in the place their grandparents or great-grandparents once called home. My background also includes event management and tour operations, so I’m equally comfortable organizing a simple walking tour or putting together a complex, tailor-made day involving transportation, reservations, research and logistics. For me, guiding isn’t about memorizing dates. It’s about making a place make sense - and creating stories you’ll still remember when the dates are long forgotten. So, whether you’re visiting Kraków for the first time, looking for something beyond the usual tourist route, or coming to Poland to discover where your family story began - I’d be happy to show you my Poland. Let’s discover its stories, secrets and a few surprises along the way. Eugene did extensive research in the days leading up to my tour on my genealogy. He was so prepared, and had the day planned out perfectly. He was the only guide that I contacted who had the foresight to realize that our tour should be on Monday, when government offices are open. The other 2 guides that I was considering did not even think of that.

It was a rainy and cold. But Yevgen was wonderful thoughtful and made it a great day. My husband has some limitation in walking and Yevgen planned the day so 1/2 way through we walked by our hotel and he stayed for the afternoon. Yevgen and I then went out and finished our afternoon.

Yevgen D. (Eugene) was amazing. You don’t need to look any further because he can do any type of tour. His English is strong enough to catch sarcasm and jokes. He’s funny, witty and knowledgeable. He knows when he’s told you enough about a subject and moves on. He is able to do history, bikes, genealogy, hiking…. There doesn’t seem to be a limit as to what he can...

What a great day! Eugene (aka Yevgen) brought the city alive with stories, history, recommendations and the occasional guessing game. We are 2 adults and a teenager and he kept our attention for over 5 hours. Don’t hesitate to book with this kind, knowledgeable man.
