Guide #12278
Ciao! My name is Barbara, pure Italian, born and raised in Florence, with true Tuscan roots, enough creativity as a Renaissance artist, an Etruscan nose, and a Roman-style temperament :) Although I am in love with Florence, I am a travel addict and world explorer and I know how tiring and challenging can be planning and visiting a different country or continent without knowing the language, the street signs, and the habits! This is why I chose to become a tour leader and guide, to make life easier for you who are reading this and planning to visit Italy! If you want to know a little bit more about me, please go ahead: I have been working as tour leader for almost 15 years, since I graduated from the University in Business and Tourism after spending three semesters in England, Germany, and Chile where I practiced German, English, and Spanish. Today I do tours in Italian, English, and Spanish! In 2012 I took an Art School to get the license of official tourist guide in Florence and be able to explain the incredible heritage preserved in the city and region of Tuscany. I also took painting classes for a while, as I always loved drawing and being creative, but without studying and learning, even Leonardo da Vinci wouldn't go very far, right? After taking a canvas and a brush in my hand, now I manage to empathize more with the painters of the past especially when I tour inside the amazing Uffizi Gallery! When the lockdown started in Italy I was in Kenya teaching Italian as a volunteer in a first-grade school for a month and I thought I would have returned to Italy, back to my beloved job, welcoming travelers from all over the world, but the universe had another plan for all of us and we are kind back to when traveling was a privilege for only a few. I used to work as tour guide full time as freelancer but, considering the uncertainty of this period, on the weekends I am working as a receptionist as well, in a very charming small hotel in Florence in the Oltrarno area. Florence they gave birth to a new way of thinking called "Humanism" with brilliant minds such as Brunelleschi, Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei and Leonardo da Vinci! I am not a descendent of none of them, sadly :) but I can take you to explore the same paths taken by these personalities, who changed the world and help you to interpret and discover the hidden treasures of Florence and the Tuscan traditions, meeting artisans, tasting fresh local products, admiring sculptures and paintings. I lead different types of tours: walking tours, bike tours, food tours, family & kids tours, hiking tours, and museums tours for private travelers or groups. Send me a message with your interests, schedule and I will customize a tour for you! I wait for you on one of my tours and you will feel like a real Italian for a day! *Licensed Tourist Guide in Florence: (Tours for children, Bike - Segway tours, Food-Artisan tours) *Tour Leader for group tours in Italy *Hiking Guide in Tuscany EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: *BA in Business and Tourist companies Management *Painter for hobby As a licensed guide and tour leader so I can guide you inside any historical monument in Florence and in all the major Italian cities. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.
