Guide #54727
Hello travellers! I would be happy to get a chance to introduce you to my beloved hometown - Dubrovnik, but let me introduce myself first. I am Lidija, a history enthusiast who also enjoys travelling, music and art. I grew up within the stone walls of Dubrovnik where I still live with my family. I'm a mother of two handsome boys; both may be found in the streets of the city; younger one chasing a ball, older one - a girl. I've been working in the tourist industry for more than 14 years. I got my tourist guide licence in 2017 and since then I've delivered hundreds of tours. Like many other places where mass tourism took over, Dubrovnik has not been immune to all the changes that affect not only our historical and natural beauties but also the local population that moved out from the Old Town as they turned in their homes to the tourist industry. It is a bit difficult to accept all the changes my hometown has been through in the last couple of decades. The stone walls did remain the same but the soul of Dubrovnik has diminished. If you are wondering whether a place can truly have a soul, I can assure you that it can, as my city used to have a beautiful one, and a glimpse of it still may be caught by a careful observer. My hometown's soul derived from the everyday life of its many inhabitants - their interaction, customs and habits. When travelling, I like to explore that particular soul of the place I'm visiting and that is what I intend to offer to other fellow travellers under my guidance. I want to share with you my memories of Dubrovnik as it once was, and reveal to you a piece of its soul hidden behind the crowds. If you decide to join me on my storytelling adventure, we will be visiting my neighbourhood, I will be showing you my family photos, taking you off the beaten track, pointing out to some hidden corners, disclosing curious stories about the city's popular locals, and even meeting some of them if we get lucky. Fear not, as a history enthusiast that I am, you won't be deprived of the narrative about the glorious times of the independent Dubrovnik Republic. In the course of our tour, we will visit and pass all the major monuments from that remarkable period (the latter ones as well). I should also highlight that I am a patient guide (as I said I am a mother of two boys) and I will be happy to take as many photos of you as you wish, I will show you all the popular sights and locations (as well as the social media ones, if you wish), try to answer all your questions, give you recommendations, tips, and most importantly provide you with a friendly interaction and an unforgettable experience. I am quite flexible and able to cater to most of the needs and preferences of my tour attendees. However, I would kindly ask you to let me know in advance if certain adjustments and precautions need to be taken in regards to the age or health of persons attending, so we can do the tour in a safe, efficient and comfortable manner. If you have any questions before you decide to book any of my tours, feel free to contact me even in case my calendar shows that I'm unavailable, I can try to adapt to your schedule. Hopefully, I was successful in sharing my story. If you are interested in learning more join me on one of the tours. Welcome to Dubrovnik! Lidija was awesome! Very responsive to our requests and questions. Very knowledgeable about the Split area. Great tour!
Our tour with Lidija was absolutely magical! We were looking for a tour that let us understand how the locals live, with some history of the town, and a little taste of some of the local street food. Lidija absolutely delivered on all counts. We got to see a lot of the old town and she showed us where she grew up as a girl. She gave us some great recommendations for...
Lydia gave us such a thorough, personal and fun tour of Dubrovnik! Her stories and scrapbook illustrating her childhood growing up with her family in the walled city made the tour so special, and created such an understanding of the city’s ancient and current history. You could understand the immense pride and progress the city has made since the last war that was so...
We were lucky to have met Lidja in 2023 when she helped out a colleague for a food tour. She confessed that her love was history- and so is ours. She showed us places that were not only famous in guidebooks, but hidden treasures and family owned homes and businesses too. We couldn't wait to see Dubrovnik with her again. We loved her personal stories like the one...
