Kid Friendly: Yes. This location is good for children as there is a "magic park" for them to play in (extra charge may apply) and the famous "Hampton Curt Maze". Often there are white swans who frequent the River Thames and local boats passing

Friendly: No.
You need to be able to negotiate the underground network and escalators. Many stations are "disabled" friendly with lifts for those who have any disabilities. Local trains can accommodate wheel chair access. Some times this means using a wheel chair ramp which the local station staff operate

English (fluent)

Visit the Finest Tudor Palace in Britain and explore by The River Thames its beautiful gardens.

A fascinating Palace, located by the River Thames, built in the early 1500's of stupendous and massive proportions extended for William 3rd and Queen Mary 2nd in 1680's by Sir Christopher Wren. It is surrounded by deer parks amounting to over 2, 000 acres (Home Park and Bushy Park). Contains famous art treasures (Cumberland Gallery), furniture and paintings, a Maze, a new and wonderful children's themed adventure playground (admission charge). Perfect for a summer outing by the River Thames. Cafe's and shops on site, with potential for pleasant local walks by The River or in the Parks. There are interesting 500 year old Tudor kitchens showing how the Kings and Queen's lived and eat in the 1500's. Today effectively a "living" Museum and gardens, last occupied by Royalty in 1700's but with much remaining of their occupation, and way of life particularly Henry 8th who married his favourite 3rd Wife here (Jane Seymour). It hosts the annual flower show. Biggest in the world?

I will meet in your hotel lobby or Waterloo central London main line railway station (not Waterloo East). Alternatively I can meet you at Hampton Court Palace railway station. Allow one hour journey time from London Waterloo railway station including wait times for train.

Arrive at Palace and two hour conducted guided tour around the Palace, Courtyards, Kitchens, Painting Galleries, flower gardens, and park area, Palace state rooms.

There are two pleasant cafes for a light lunch or refreshments, or the visitor can linger in Hampton Court village which has some antiques shops, pubs and restaurants.

I will conduct you back to the Railway station where trains return directly to central London and your original departure point after the two hour on site exploration unless you decide to delay your return and use your own free time.

Meeting Location + Tour Duration

Meeting location: I will meet visitors at their hotel (in the lobby), or anywhere else that may be agreed in central London that is specifically agreed beforehand

End location: As I live close to Hampton Court Palace my preference will be to escort you to Hampton Court railway station and put you on the train which returns from there to London. There is no other end stop than Waterloo station from Hampton Court. If you require more assistance then this can be arranged

Duration: 5 hours

Access by train from central London - journey time from train station around 35 minutes. On arrival at Hampton Court the palace is just five minutes walk away. Public transport usually very reliable

The means of travel is by local public railway train and possibly underground or taxi to Waterloo main line railway station (not Waterloo East) in Central London. Hampton Court Palace is within a few minutes walk of Hampton Court railway station.

What’s Included

I provide a full guiding service for the whole time including a private tour of the Palace itself, and can collect you from your hotel lobby or other agreed designated place to suit your needs and arrange to help you purchase tickets etc. I assist with information and advice on further vacation activity to achieve the most from your visit to London or elsewhere in the UK

Estimated Local Cash Needed

40 pounds - This is the per person cost (adult) of buying tickets on the day for the local train (return ticket from London to Hampton Court) and entry fee into the Palace. The entry fee to the palace can be reduced if a family ticket is purchased (max 2 adults + 3 children) and/or online in advance

What’s Extra

You need to cover the cost of drinks, refreshments and food during the day, and any other shop purchases that you decide to make. There is the cost of rail travel from your Hotel and Palace entry fee as mentioned elsewhere (approximately £40 per person). This tour is less expensive than arranging private vehicle hire but if you wish to do that instead it can be arranged at a price to be agreed. There is potential to extend the visit to a full day with private vehicle hire and include Windsor Castle (extra admission, guiding and vehicle hire charges apply here, and the day extending from 4 to 9 hours ).

There are no restrictions and I can arrange car transport if required in a private vehicle.

A Recent Review of this tour

The Hampton Court Palace tour was one of the highlights of my trip to England. I had a very positive experience. The local guide was knowledgeable, and interested in providing me with an understanding of medieval history and its impact upon the history of the country. Bravo, Barry !!!!
