I would like to welcome you to London, my home and the city I love. As well as being an experienced Blue Badge Tour Guide (the ultimate qualification in guiding) I am also a City of London Guide, the City of Westminster Guide and Tate Gallery Guide, so wherever we go you'll be in good hands. Only Blue Badge guides are permitted to guide in certain locations, such as Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London. My aim is to provide you with enthusiastic informative private tours which ensure that your London experience will be the best. I was born in the North of England but spent part of my childhood living in India and the Middle East. I moved to London for a year to study on a postgraduate course and never left - working, bringing up my children and developing my career in guiding here. Apart from a few years living in Japan and Singapore London has been my home for 30 years. I believe there is something for everyone here, 2000 years of history rubbing shoulders in a contemporary city with modern architecture, fashion and art. Whatever you are interested in, whether it is castles, palaces, traditions, galleries, museums or modern culture I can tailor a tour for you. My bespoke tours include walking tours, tours by public transport ( bus, tube, boat or train), or I can organize a car with a driver or a minibus. Within London we can cover the major sites--Westminster Abbey, Royal London, Buckingham Palace, Changing of the Guard, Churchill War Rooms, St Paul's Cathedral, Tower of London or explore less well-known districts like Bermondsey, Shoreditch or Spitalfields. Out of London Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath, Dover, Leeds Castle, Hever Castle are a few of the many wonderful places that can be easily reached in a day trip. I hope to see you soon. . . . Liz Public liability insurance Blue Badge London Tour Guide - this is the highest qualification tour guides can achieve. Westminster is the political and royal cockpit of this country. The Houses of Parliament is the seat of our government and our Royal family live and work at Palaces in Westminster. The Abbey is their Royal Church, the glorious stage for coronations, Royal weddings and funerals, but it also celebrates the lives of so many other great Britons that to visit is a walk through British history. Its quite a mausoleum with over 3, 000 people buried there from Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Dickens to Stephen Hawking. During the tour we'll see all the important places in Westminster where Britain's history has been shaped and witness the stirring Changing of the Guard and visit the prettiest of the Royal Parks--St James Park, famous for its birds and ducks. After lunch we visit the Churchill War Rooms, the secret underground control centre used to plan the war effort during the 2WW. You'll be able to see how the staff worked and lived here and I'll show you highlights in the museum centred on Churchill's life.
• Parliament Square, meet and see Houses of Parliament and Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben)--exterior • Westminster Abbey--interior visit for an approx 1 hour. Westminster Abbey is closed on Sundays. • Changing of the Guards - full Changing of the Guard does not happen every day but we'll see plenty of soldiers on ceremonial duty • Buckingham Palace-exterior • St James Park • The Mall, follow the Royal Processional route seeing Clarence House (where King Charles & Camilla, the Queen Consort, live) St James Palace, • Horseguard's Parade-- see mounted Household Cavalry • Whitehall • Trafalgar Square • Lunch in traditional pub-approx 1 hour, a good opportunity for you to ask me questions. Afternoon: • Downing Street (home of British Prime Minister) • Churchill War Rooms interior visit of around 1 hour 30 mins • Horseguard's Parade--catch the traditional punishment parade (don't worry the punishment is not for our visitors!) This tour can be customised to suit your requirements, do please ask me.
