Hello, I'm Robert, an expert London guide. Come on an entertaining, friendly and informative tour with me. I can tailor a tour for you whether it's your first visit to London or your umpteenth. I look forward to meeting you. There is so much I can show you! I am a Londoner and I have worked in this capital city and internationally. I have travelled widely and I appreciate what appeals to visitors to England. I particularly enjoy taking family groups on tours. As a volunteer in the Learning Department at Westminster Abbey, I guide groups of students and school children through its wonderful space. These educational tours add another dimension to my enjoyment of guiding. For my tours I use a mix of walking, private hire vehicles, public transport and, in London, taxis and river boat services. Within London, there are two cities - The City of London, the 'Square Mile', a global financial centre characterised by its cutting-edge modern architecture, St Paul's Cathedral and some famous (and infamous) people. Having worked in finance, I can explain in an interesting and engaging way the commercial background to the City. As a Freeman of the City of London I have the symbolic privilege of being allowed to drive sheep across London Bridge! In Westminster, the second city, we can explore parks, pageantry and Royal heritage, National Gallery of art - I can share with you a variety of world class cultural activities. On a visit to the British Museum or the Victoria and Albert Museum, a world leader in decorative arts, I will pick out exhibits and explain their significance. And beyond London, I provide equally well organised and enthusiastic tours of places like Hampton Court Palace, Royal Windsor and its Castle and further afield, the Cotswolds with its fabulous scenery. I will provide you with magical memories to take home. What people say about my tours: "Thank you for a fascinating and inspirational morning…. " (comment by RE) "…. greatly enjoyed the fascinating and amusing guided tour of the City you gave on Saturday" (Private tour group) "We had a wonderful day today seeing just the smallest sliver of the rich history of London". Westminster Abbey, the Royal Church Wonderful Westminster Abbey: monarchs are crowned in this stunning space. I have stories of people commemorated here. It's one of my favourite places. St Edward the Confessor, an English monarch more than 900 years ago, has a shrine and the present church, 500 years in the making, was started by King Henry III. Hear stories about kings and queens and their Coronations at the Abbey. The tour will include the upper Galleries which display some of the Abbey's treasures and there is a breath-taking view down to the Nave. I take students and school children around the Abbey so you can challenge me on any subject! Your experience will be enhanced by being able to use headsets. Please check with me before booking that the Abbey is expected to be open on the day of your visit.
This is a 3 hour tour of Westminster Abbey including the upper Triforium Galleries which provide more depth to the history of the Abbey.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
If required, for the transfer from your hotel to the Abbey, we will use the London underground rail system (metro/subway) - an attraction itself - or a London Taxi (at extra cost and limited to 5 guests). Walking on street pavements (sidewalks) and around the Abbey
