Hello, I'm Robert, an expert London guide. Come on an entertaining, friendly and informative tour with me. I can tailor a tour for you whether it's your first visit to London or your umpteenth. I look forward to meeting you. There is so much I can show you! I am a Londoner and I have worked in this capital city and internationally. I have travelled widely and I appreciate what appeals to visitors to England. I particularly enjoy taking family groups on tours. As a volunteer in the Learning Department at Westminster Abbey, I guide groups of students and school children through its wonderful space. These educational tours add another dimension to my enjoyment of guiding. For my tours I use a mix of walking, private hire vehicles, public transport and, in London, taxis and river boat services. Within London, there are two cities - The City of London, the 'Square Mile', a global financial centre characterised by its cutting-edge modern architecture, St Paul's Cathedral and some famous (and infamous) people. Having worked in finance, I can explain in an interesting and engaging way the commercial background to the City. As a Freeman of the City of London I have the symbolic privilege of being allowed to drive sheep across London Bridge! In Westminster, the second city, we can explore parks, pageantry and Royal heritage, National Gallery of art - I can share with you a variety of world class cultural activities. On a visit to the British Museum or the Victoria and Albert Museum, a world leader in decorative arts, I will pick out exhibits and explain their significance. And beyond London, I provide equally well organised and enthusiastic tours of places like Hampton Court Palace, Royal Windsor and its Castle and further afield, the Cotswolds with its fabulous scenery. I will provide you with magical memories to take home. What people say about my tours: "Thank you for a fascinating and inspirational morning…. " (comment by RE) "…. greatly enjoyed the fascinating and amusing guided tour of the City you gave on Saturday" (Private tour group) "We had a wonderful day today seeing just the smallest sliver of the rich history of London". Come and explore the legacy of Sir Christopher Wren. Christopher Wren's masterpiece is St Paul's Cathedral, complete with its dome. He was an inventor, scientist, mathematician, astronomer and architect. Our tour will include the American chapel and a view of Wren's tomb and commemorative sculptures of significant Britons. And after the cathedral we will venture into the City to hear about its commercial development. On our walk we will see several of the many churches in the City re-designed by Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of 1666 each an individual jewel to add to his crowning glory. The tour is best taken Monday to Friday when many City churches are open for internal visits. They are unlikely to be open for visiting on Saturday or Sunday
• Meet and greet at St Paul's Cathedral • This is a half-day tour. • We first visit St Paul's Cathedral, initially its external views, and then proceeding inside to hear about its creation, structure, the memorials displayed, and associated stories. • There will be time for a refreshment break in the Crypt and to visit the gift shop at the end of our visit. • Returning outside, we will walk around the City of London and see its contemporary architecture and several of Wren's re-designed parish churches. Opening hours of churches are variable and opening hours are not guaranteed. • The tour is flexible and based on 2 hours in St Paul's and up to 2 hours of walking around the City. • Afterwards, you can relax in one of the City's pubs, cafés or restaurants.
