Overview of your London tour
Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Changing of the Guard - even if you've never been to London before you will have seen these places in photos and movies. Experience them (and many more) in real life on this walking tour of Westminster, a stroll through the historic Royal and government district of the capital that will go past all the classic sights. It's the perfect way to orientate yourself on a visit and see how everything connects. There will be stories of kings and queens, wonderful photo opportunities, a dash of history, and some beautiful buildings. And on the mornings when the Changing of the Guard takes place* I'll make sure you have a good view. And as an official London Blue Badge guide I can take visitors into Westminster Abbey and the Churchill War Rooms, so drop me a line if you would like to customise this tour with any internal visits (entrance fees will apply).
Your London tour itinerary
We will meet outside Westminster Abbey (the Coronation Church) and see: - The Abbey's history and role - Houses of Parliament and Big Ben - Parliament Square - Whitehall (the site of Henry VIII's palace and Charles I's execution) - Downing Street (the home and office of the British Prime Minister) - The King's Horseguards - St James's Palace and Park - Buckingham Palace - the HQ of the Monarchy - Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden *Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings we will also get to see the Changing of the Guard (it is weather-dependent) - and I'll make sure you have prime positions for all the action. N. B. - this is an 'external' tour (we don't go into the places mentioned) although it can be customised should you want to. And more! The tour can be customised/extended to show you the places on your 'must see' list, or to visit inside the Abbey.
