As Napoleon once said: ''If the earth were a single state, Istanbul would be its capital'' I live with my pretty wife Rose our daughter Defne and Archie, our cat. I'm a huge cinema fan, I watched almost all of the cult films. I studied Spanish Language and Literature at University of Istanbul. After my graduation I took an intense course of tourism guidance regulated by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in 2012. So, I've been working as a licensed guide ever since. I've been guiding escorted tours all around Turkey (Ankara, Cappadocia, Antalya, Ephesus, Troy etc. ) and also do private city tours. Istanbul is one of the few cities in the world divided into two continents. Once capital of Roman Empire, Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman) and Ottoman Empire, Istanbul is vast in history. I can't wait to share my knowledge with you! Apart from my job I myself also love travelling, trying new tastes, discovering new places, getting to know different cultures and people that's why I'm aware of expectations of a traveller. I'm going to show you how it feels like living in two continents at the same time! Many people spend just 10 minutes to reach to the other side for work everyday. But what is different on both sides? Why people choose to live on the Asian side and work at the European Side? Today, I am going to tell you why and how during the tour! We'll start our day with Spice Bazaar which is also known as Egyptian Bazaar, where we'll have the opportunity to taste delicious Turkish delights, spices and of course Turkish Coffee! Then we will head to the pier to get on the boat. Including me, many people fall for the beauty of reflections on the ice blue Bosphorus and the harmonical sound of it's seagulls. We'll get off on the Asian Side, this is where we have lunch and spend our afternoon. Come on! Let's have a look around together!
We had a great time, with a long boat tour of the area and plenty of time on the Asian side of the city. The guide also took us to have a delicious lunch with 'real' Turkish food. We loved heading out early to take advantage of few to no crowds at many places we visited. We highly recommend this tour!
Ugur did a fantastic job of guiding us to the major sites of Istanbul. He was so knowledgeable of the history of this area. He showed us every important area of the historic sites with very knowledgeable insights. He even suggested an itinerary for our time alone in Istanbul. Our 2 days with him were fantastic.
Such an extraordinary first day and introduction to Istanbul. I could not have hoped for better. Ugur, besides being extremely knowledgeable is fabulous company. He made me feel thoroughly local - showed me the sites, introduced me to mydye dolma and kokorech, taught me the alphabet and some Turkish words for good measure. I thoroughly recommend him. We met as visitor and guide and parted as friends.
"Asia as you've never seen it!" Strolling with Ugur through the streets of Istanbul was like walking with a friend through their city. The deep history and cultural delights on. the Asia side" were a sight to behold. Case in point..Ugur recommended the lamb intestine sandwich which I ordered. Tasty beyond belief along with muscles and a yogurt drink.."Ugur knows best"..should be a Turkish TV show! The tour is "structured" to your desires…not preplanned and you go where Ugur takes you.
