Hi there ! My name is ''Umit''. I studied British Literature & ELT at the University of Istanbul. I've been guiding with great enthusiasm for 30 years. I still keep my first passion of guiding each and every single day. My excitement to my country and its historical treasures kept me outstanding to my profession. My point is to have my guests breathe the spirit of the country with its historic, cultural, archeological, traditional and local values. To hang around with me will make your visit to Turkey as memorable as possible for the rest of your life. Let's discover Turkey together so that you could see one country, but a thousand world. As long as you have more than a day in the city, it is better to do both historic and modern way of life. Visiting old town (Sultanahmet) will give you the historic background of Istanbul, and discovering a local neighborhood will show the real local ambiance. Explore the history of Istanbul with its spectacular old remains and live Turkish life with natives by hanging around Kadikoy where I personally feel the locals' aura. Get the chance to taste traditional food in the Asian part of Istanbul to experience what we eat, what we do, how we dress up and more. Honestly, this is the most delicious part of this package. It's not enough to spend even a week in Istanbul (when you think that this is the biggest city in Turkey), but 2 days will be pretty efficient to explore. This package will definitely picture the image of the country in your mind in terms of historic and modern Turkey. As an eager guide with 30 years of experience, I will make you discover Turkey and its treasures through my passionate eyes.
Day 1: Visit Old Town (Sultanahmet) where you will be able to see Hippodrome (where Romans used to organize chariot races and gladiators' fight), Blue Mosque with its unique Iznik tiles, Underground Cistern (Roman water reservoir), St. Sophia (the biggest church when it was built in 537 A. D. ), Topkapi Palace (headquarter of Ottoman Empire) and Grand Bazaar with its amazing 3700 stores. Since all above is in the same area, it's going to be a walking tour. Day 2:Today will be mostly with local attractions. Visit Suleymaniye Mosque, Spice Market (to purchase spices, herbs, Turkish delights, saffron, dried nuts and fruits, herbal teas and more). Then take the public ferry to hang around the local neighborhood called ' Kadikoy' with its local atmosphere. -Please keep in mind that ; *Topkapi Palace is closed on Tuesday *Grand Bazaar on Sunday
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
Day 1 & day 2 will be operated by public transport (tram, cab, subway), and also a public ferry for a round trip to the Asian part of Istanbul.
