We were warned to get to the airport earlier than we had planned and we were concerned we would not do the Topkapi Palace justice. Mine helped us consider alternative destinations. We settled on the Dolmabahce Palace, which was awe-inspiring in its own right. Mine's knowledge of the Sultan's design and decorating choices as well as lifestyle allowed us to better understand what we were seeing. And, by the end of the tour, we felt we had gained a friend in Turkey!

* Meeting at the main entrance of the Topkapı Palace (imperial gate, 1st gate) * We'll walk through the first courtyard, hear out the stories of the buildings and people that existed in here. * We'll pass through 2nd gate, hear out the story of the gate, buildings and galleries inside this 2nd courtyard and the ceremonies that were held here. * We'll hear out the customs and ceremonies that were held in front of the 3rd gate. * We'll visit harem section, talk about the women's life, status, the importance of the queen mother and some stories from the past. *We'll see the privy chamber and the terrace of the sultans with a great view of the city. * We'll visit the privy garden and talk more about its function. * Last but not the least we'll visit the kitchen galleries and talk a lot about the cuisine, Turkish coffee and daily routine of the palace kitchens. * End of the tour
