Toledo is located only 70 km / 43 miles south of Madrid. By train it takes only 35 minutes to arrive from the capital so it's perfect for a daytrip out of town. The city was the old capital of Spain untill 1561, when Madrid became the capital. Toledo is World Heritage by UNESCO since 1985 due to its extremly well preserved monuments and old section, fully walled.
