Overview of your Ljubljana tour
My home town is the capital Ljubljana. It is often called a European jewel or a small blend of Prague and Amsterdam. It's a 'town with a soul', as visitors often comment. The old town is concentrated along the Ljubljanica river and the Castle on a hill still looks like it's protecting the romantic city below. I will take you around on foot and reveal stories from the past and also stories I have lived in Ljubljana. I'm very happy to be able to live in this cutest town. Postojna Cave is my favourite cave in Slovenia - considering it's beauty. Not even one part of the cave is just barren rock, everywhere you look you can see cave formations. It is a 21-km long karst cave system, a web of underground passages and halls, which has in almost 200 years been visited by over 40 million people. Predjama castle, in the vicinity of Postojna, is a magnificent fortress hidden in a small lovely valley. I love it, I haven't seen any castles like this anywhere else.
Your Ljubljana tour itinerary
We will walk together throught will see all mayor Ljubljana sights: - the main square with Prešeren monument, - Franciscan church and Three Bridges, - the Congress Square (Park of the Star), - The New Square, - The Cobbler's Bridge, - The Old Square (the oldest street), the romantic river promenade, - the Municipality Square, - St. Nicholas Cathedral, - the famous Open Air Market with the new Butcher's Bridge. After the tour - free time for personal discoveries and optional lunch I'll take you to Postojna (40 min ride), which is famous for the cave of Postojna. - We will take a train to get into the heart of the cave and then on foot explore this wonder of nature with its uncountable stalagtites, stalagmites, curtains, towers and huge galleries and halls. The visit of the cave lasts approx. 1, 5 h. - See the Predjama castle in the vicinity of the cave. We will drive there for a photo stop. - The ride to Ljubljana will take us 45 minutes.
