Warsaw Jewish Heritage half day tour

How to describe the world that was destroyed 80 years ago? How to bring to life people that had disappeared and left almost no trace? It's a challenge but I've decided to take it. As a guide in the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, I'm fascinated with their culture and traditions. I try to present this rich world by visiting the places that tell the stories, by showing archive photos, by telling about people who were the parts of this society. During the tour, you will see very few survived fragments of pre-war "Jewish Warsaw": some tenement houses, the orthodox synagogue, fragments of tram lines from Nalewki Street (center of Jewish quarter before WW II) and you will be guided through the huge old Jewish cemetery. You will visit the places related to the horror of the Holocaust. We will also talk about the present situation. PLEASE NOTE - the Cemetery is closed on Saturdays, the tour then is 1 hour shorter and cheaper, please email me for details.

This is a suggested agenda, let me know what you would like to see and do and I will customize the tour accordingly. - Prozna Street, a center of pre-war cultural and trade life - 20 min - The Nozyk synagogue - 20 min + driving 10 min - Original fragments of the ghetto wall - 30 min - Chlodna Street with the symbolical neon bridge over the ghetto area - 30 min - coffee/lunch break - 30 min + driving 15 min - The Jewish Cemetery from 1806 - 1 h + driving 10 min - The building of POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews (outside, the exhibition recommended to be seen individually) - 15 min - Memorial Route of the Martyrdom and Struggle of the Jews 1940-1943 with Umshlagplatz (place of deportation to Treblinka) - 50 min. The tour can be EXTENDED by the Jewish Praga district (original pre-war Jewish buildings) or the original villa from "Zookeeper's Wife" movie. Please email me for details.
