Hello! My name is Jola. I live in Warsaw and I am fascinated with this place. That's why, some 20 years ago, I decided to study Warsaw history, architecture, culture, etc. to become a fully-qualified city guide. Some time ago, after years spent in international corporations, I gave it up and became a full-time tour guide. I've also engaged, as a volunteer, in documenting architectural details of old tenement houses in Warsaw and regular cleaning works on the historical Jewish cemetery. I love traveling, meeting new people, discovering different cultures and traditions. I am easy going and energetic person, passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience with other people. I always try to make my guests feel like they're spending time with a friend. I'm eager to share with you my passion for Warsaw. I'd like to tell you the story of the rich, elegant city which almost disappeared from the Earth during WW2, but then was reborn like the Phoenix , the city formed by the communists in accordance with their ideology, the city that changed completely its face after 1989. I'd like to follow with you the traces of Frederic Chopin, Maria Curie, Icchak Singer, admire beautiful royal residences: Wilanow and Lazienki, and visit the places perfect for taking a deep breath and relax. How to describe the world that was destroyed 80 years ago? How to bring to life people that had disappeared and left almost no trace? It's a challenge but I've decided to take it. As a guide in the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, I'm fascinated with their culture and traditions. I try to present this rich world by visiting the places that tell the stories, by showing archive photos, by telling about people who were the parts of this society. During the tour, you will see very few survived fragments of pre-war "Jewish Warsaw": some tenement houses, the orthodox synagogue, fragments of tram lines from Nalewki Street (center of Jewish quarter before WW II) and you will be guided through the huge old Jewish cemetery. You will visit the places related to the horror of the Holocaust. We will also talk about the present situation. PLEASE NOTE - the Cemetery is closed on Saturdays, the tour then is 1 hour shorter and cheaper, please email me for details.
Jola is an excellent tour guide. Her tour was very well structured and accompanied by well chosen historical photographs and other visual materials. Jola is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Jews in Warsaw and Poland in general. But in addition to information, Jola conveyed her enthusiasm and love for the subject. She also is an engaging and very pleasant person. Five stars plus.
Jola was excellent, she arrived on time, brought a car, rented us a safety seat for the toddler,, was very flexible with the schedule, was extremely knowledgeable and informative, and was very efficient at helping us see what we wanted to see. Seeing mila 18, the Warsaw ghetto wall, the walk of the martyrs, the umschlagplatz, add to the other memorials was very meaningful, and Jola helped us with Historic, cultural, and geographic context. I would highly recommend using her for this kind of tour.
Jola is an exceptional tour guide as she customized two half days tours into a single tour due to last minute scheduling constraints. She communicated timely with me and provided the flexibility that we needed to make our time with Jola memorable. We toured both Best of Warsaw and Jewish Heritage. Being a student of history Jola provided historical insight on both tours that I truly appreciated and for my wife as well. She made great use of time by taking us by car to a good number of sights. We did both a walking tour of Jewish Warsaw and Treblinka with Jola. She was fantastic! The tour was comprehensive. Her English is excellent and her knowledge and enthusiasm were great. She is friendly and interactive. I would definitely do another tour with her.
