The tour helps you explore the Jewish heritage in Warsaw. You will see the monument to the Heroes of the Ghetto, erected in 1948 on the ruins of the Jewish quarter. This extremely powerful memorial stands in front of one of the best museums in Europe - Museum of the History of the Polish Jews POLIN. We drive to the Umschlag Platz memorial, commemorating the deportation of 300. 000 Warsaw Jews to Treblinka death camp and Mila 18 bunker. After that we follow to see the Nożyk Synagogue and Próżna street. Next we proceed towards the remnants of the original ghetto wall. We drive to Chłodna street, where once a wooden footbridge linked two parts of the ghetto. At the end we return to the main Ghetto Heroes Memorial and visit the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews. The tour is not available on Tueesdays and some holidays when the POLIN museum is closed.
On this tour we visit: - Nozyk synagogue - the only functioning synagogue which survived the war (from outside) - drive through Próżna street - the „last" street of the ghetto, which preserved its old architecture on both sides - fragment of the original Ghetto Wall - site of the wooden footbridge on Chłodna Street which linked two parts of the ghetto - drive by Old Nalewki street - once the main Jewish commercial street with original cobble stones and the tram track - Umschlagplatz memorial - once a train station from which over 300 thousand Jews were deported to the death camp of Treblinka - Path of remembrance dedicated to the heroes of the Jewish Uprising - Mila 18 bunker where Mordechai Anielewicz and other members of the Jewish Combat organization lost their lives - Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto - Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN, awarded in 2016 with the European Museum of the Year prize (the visit takes approx. 2 hrs, closed on Tuesdays)
