This essential tour allows you to get to know Warsaw - from its historic and modern side. We start from the centrally located city's landmark: soviet built Palace of Culture and Science, surrounded by modern skyskrapers. I will tell you about the country's communist past, which I remember from my childhood, and show you buildings from that era on the way. Once we get to the Royal Way, the city's main historic street we will: - see the most important buildings, churches, and monuments - learn about F. Chopin, my favorite composer, who spent half of his life here and hear his music - compare landmark residences with how they were painted by the city's most famous painter Canaletto - discuss politics and recent history by the Presidential Palace The Royal Way leads us to the Old Town, entirely rebuilt after WWII, where we explore Warsaw's past. We end at the Old Market Square - the old heart of the city with a charming statue of the mermaid, Warsaw's coat of arms.
During this tour, We will see some of the most beautiful places, such as: 1) Starting point: palace of Culture and Science, modern city center 2) Świetokrzyska street: Warsaw Uprising Square with Warszawa hotel - an example of pre-war modernist architecture, National bank of Poland, Ministry of Finance, Nowy Świat street 3) Royal Way: monument of Copernicus and the Polish Academy of Sciences, Holy Cross Church with F. Chopin's heart (inside), trail of F. Chopin with musical benches, Warsaw University, Church of the Visitandines, view to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, historic hotels: Europejski and Bristol (inside we will find a big list of famous celebrities who stayed there), Presidential Palace, St. Anne's church 4) Old Town: city walls, king Sigismund's column - city's oldest secular monument, Royal Castle - rebuilt from the scratch historic seat of Polish kings and parliament, St. John's Cathedral, Old Market Square The itinerary is flexible, for any changes please let me know.
