On this tour I'm taking you to the amazing city of Lodz, located 80 miles from Warsaw. Before WW2 it was a bustling, industrial city with a big Jewish community. After the war it continued its industrial traditions and became the center of Polish textile and clothing industry. Lodz was also known for its Film School. Many famous actors, film directors and cameramen graduated from this school. One of them was Roman Polanski, the director of the Oscar winning "The Pianist". This tour covers both historical and modern faces of Lodz. Going to Lodz is a good opportunity to find out about the history of Jewish community living here before and during WW2. You can see the area of the former ghetto, the Jewish cemetery and the station which was the starting point of the last trip of the Jews from Lodz. On the other hand Lodz is becoming very fashionable place to visit. Forbes Magazine chose Lodz as one of the top value destinations in 2019. * Pick up from your hotel & drive to Lodz. We drive 130 km (80 miles) West of Warsaw (approx. 1, 5 hour drive). After reaching Lodz we drive in the area of the former Jewish ghetto. Our tour of Lodz will include the following stops: * Radegast train station. * Jewish cemetery * Survival's Park * Piotrkowska Street - the most representative place in the city * Manufaktura - a former textile complex transformed into the best shopping center in Poland After completing the tour we come back to Warsaw (1, 5 hour drive). If you would like to visit some other sites of the city, for example if you have some ancestors who used to live in Lodz, I will be glad to find the place(s) for you. This will make this trip a truly unique experience.
