Hello and welcome to one of the greatest places on earth, Oaxaca! My name is Mani and I'm a local artist, photographer, musician, and world traveler. I have been providing private tours in Oaxaca since 2020. Oaxaca is an enchanting and magical place where as a local artist I have immersed myself in its Art, Culture, History, Traditions, Architecture, Nature and so much more, giving me an extensive knowledge of what I believe makes Oaxaca unique and magical, with all its incredible little secrets. My intimate and unique tours include various Archeological and Historical sites, workshops where weaving is being done and graphic arts are being made, traditional Tianguis (markets), art galleries. I will be more than happy to offer suggestions of things to do or events to attend during the rest of your stay! Specialized custom tours are also available. Specifically to cater to your taste and needs. Sharing my knowledge with others has always been my passion, providing unforgettable moments and creating memories for families and friends. Oaxaca has an incredible amount of art and artists all working on engravings, etchings, oils, and many other mediums. Join me visiting some of these galleries & workshops and view the process of large print making, whether for murals, for posters or for commissioned projects. This is among my favorite activities in the city, from which I draw endless inspiration for my own art. We will view artists working on their projects within some galleries, and learn about the many different techniques, styles and influences present in Oaxaca and México. We will speak with the artists and learn about their crafts and what inspires them. On this tour, you'll have the unique opportunity to go into Xochimilco, a town that the legendary Aztecs left their mark on, to visit the houses of local artisans, where they create their artpieces.
Our tour will start from the Templo Santo Domingo de Guzman. We will enter the Templo and discuss its history and the important role it has always played in the city. Next we will proceed to Mano Magica Gallery, one of the least visited yet most beautiful galleries in the city. Here we will see its current exhibit as well as its permanent collection of prominent Oaxaca painters. Then we will visit La Maquina Taller de Gráfica, and Subterraneos Gallery/Workshop. Here we will watch and learn about the process of engraving, etching, charcoal drawing, mural preparations and much more. Next, we will visit a family of artists in their private homes in Xochimilco. Here we will experience the live process of tin working at shops run by the same families for many generations. At last, we'll be back to the center of town to finish the tour. This itinerary could be customized upon request.
