My name is Tomas A licensed tour guide by the federal government of the country of Mexico with a background of being a native Zapotec from the state of Oaxaca. I started as a tour guide in 2010 in Bahias de Huatulco, located in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico right of the coastline of the Pacific ocean. I have spent the last five years scouting and creating unique experiences in the heart of Huatulco to ensure that your trip will be unforgettable. My experiences promote educational, cultural, rural and sustainable tourism as well as generate economic opportunity for the people of the region in which I work. My outings are not tours in the traditional sense but rather a day with a unique experience on the beach, waterfalls, turtle sanctuary or in the rural community. I offer to my clients an insider's view of Oaxaca, as a native Zapotec from Teotitlan del Valle who is also a certified professional tour guide. I combine my knowledge of history, culture and local communities with a deep respect for my Zapotec heritage and traditions. I bring to my clients closer to the real Oaxaca and I love sharing my personal perspective with them on trips through Bahias de Huatulco and local destinations in the cost line of Oaxaca state and in the central valley. Continue with the adventure in Teotitlán del Valle is it a place full of colours with the Zapotec weavers indigenous people at Teotitlán del Valle, you will learn about the development of wool rugs, bags and sarapes. Our route then continues to Mitla, one of the most important architectural regions in Oaxaca. Here we'll tour the ruins of a Zapotec village, you'll admire the extraordinary decoration of the walls and explore the ornate halls which lead to the church itself. And end your tour learning about the process of mezcal production with a delicious taste. You'll have free reign to make the itinerary your own, depending on your interests.

His own background is Zapotecan, and he can naturally speak about cultures today in a way that mirrors the ancient civilizations through time. It also helps that Tomas is super friendly and engaging. Our day with Tomas was great. It was educative and memorable: El Tule tree, Mitla, the making of textiles, Mezcal tasting, and a nice lunch in between. Tomas is professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Seven hours is long and Tomas was flexible with us cutting down the length of the Mezcal tour because we were getting tired. I highly recommend this tour! Tips: bring water, a hat, and good shoes.

You will visit the colourful Teotitlán del Valle, where the local artisans make and paint different kinds of textiles in the same way as their ancestors have for generations You will visit Mitla archaeological site, one of the most important architectural regions in Oaxaca. You will visit a Mezcal palenque, learning about the process of mezcal production. And you'll enjoy a tasting of this typical local spirit and its different tastes.
