My name is Tomas A licensed tour guide by the federal government of the country of Mexico with a background of being a native Zapotec from the state of Oaxaca. I started as a tour guide in 2010 in Bahias de Huatulco, located in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico right of the coastline of the Pacific ocean. I have spent the last five years scouting and creating unique experiences in the heart of Huatulco to ensure that your trip will be unforgettable. My experiences promote educational, cultural, rural and sustainable tourism as well as generate economic opportunity for the people of the region in which I work. My outings are not tours in the traditional sense but rather a day with a unique experience on the beach, waterfalls, turtle sanctuary or in the rural community. I offer to my clients an insider's view of Oaxaca, as a native Zapotec from Teotitlan del Valle who is also a certified professional tour guide. I combine my knowledge of history, culture and local communities with a deep respect for my Zapotec heritage and traditions. I bring to my clients closer to the real Oaxaca and I love sharing my personal perspective with them on trips through Bahias de Huatulco and local destinations in the cost line of Oaxaca state and in the central valley. Overview of your Oaxaca tour
Immerse yourself in Oaxacan culture on this day trip. Having picked you up from your hotel at the indicated time, we hit the road towards Mount Alban. Visit the most important archaeological site in Oaxaca, Monte Albán, located in the majestic urban center, site which is the ancient capital of the Zapotecos and one of the first cities in Mesoamerica. This area was known as the religious, political, and economic center of the Zapotec civilization. Next, you'll visit San Antonio Arrazola, a magical place of colors and traditions, where the famous artisans will show you how they carve the copal wood. Learn the process of creating the magical figures called "Alebrijes", which represent the innovative spirit of the Oaxacan soul, part of an ancestral tradition of the Zapotecs. Afther that will drive to San Bartolo Coyotepec, a small town of adobe houses where you'll witness the process of making beautiful black clay figures.

This is a great tour. Tomas is from a Zapotec Village in Oaxaca known for its excellent weaving. He speaks perfect English and told us about the local customs and culture as we strolled though town. We spent several hours learning about weaving (from raw wool to finished piece) and enjoyed a delicious lunch. It was a perfect tour. We got great photos and learned so much about a beautiful culture and art form. I know the tour is listed as Monte Alban here, but we requested the weaving experience. Tomas took us to Monte Alban on a previous visit, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. We highly recommend both tours, and this guide. On our next visit, we will certainly book a tour with Tomas again!

Fun day exploring Monte Alban with Thomas. A very comfortable conversationalist which made the time in car between sights pleasant. He understood my limitations due to problems with my feet and endurance. Did not have to climb every pyramid, and took time for brief rests when needed. Enjoyed visiting the black clay colony in San Bartolo Coyotepec and the festive/colorful spirit animal artisans in San Martin Tilcajete. A very memorial day exploring the outskirts of Oaxaca.

The tour to the Zapotec ruins of Monte Alban was fascinating. But what really made it special was Tomas' wealth of knowledge of the site and his personal connection to it as a Zapotec indigenous person. The knowledge he conveyed was awesome. But it didn't stop there. We had a delicious lunch at a remote restaurant featuring Oaxaca's famous mole sauce and then visited local craftspeople who explained their unique techniques and displayed their wares. We do recommend this tour with Tomas.-

You will visit San Antonio Arrazola to admire the hand-crafted carving process of traditional "Alebrijes You will visit San Bartolo Coyotepec, where you'll witness the process of making beautiful black clay figures.
