Welcome to Oaxaca! I was born and raised in the Central Valleys, where I still live in one of the many Indigenous communities that make this region so unique. As a proud Zapotec, I enjoy sharing not only my own heritage but also the traditions, history, and living cultures of Oaxaca's sixteen Indigenous peoples. After many years in education as a teacher and academic leader, I realized my favorite classroom had always been Oaxaca itself. Today, as a federally certified Cultural Guide and Nature and Adventure Guide, I combine my passion for archaeology, hiking, birdwatching, and nature with a teaching style that is clear, engaging, and conversational. I love introducing travelers to the remarkable story of the Zapotec civilization, a culture that deserves to be as well known as the Maya and the Aztecs. Questions are always encouraged because the best experiences are conversations, not lectures. Authenticity is at the heart of my tours. Whenever possible, I invite the artisans themselves to share their knowledge and traditions, creating genuine cultural encounters. Whether we're exploring ancient cities, mountain trails, or family workshops, my goal is to help you discover the real Oaxaca beyond the guidebooks. Every tour can be customized to match your interests, pace, and schedule, and I look forward to welcoming you with the warmth, knowledge, and pride of a local.

Begin your day at Monte Albán, the ancient Zapotec capital built high above the Central Valleys. Explore its grand plazas, temples, ball court, and ceremonial spaces while learning how this remarkable civilization shaped the region more than 1,500 years ago. Afterward, return to Oaxaca City for a relaxed walking tour through its historic heart. Discover the Zócalo, Santo Domingo, and the streets where Indigenous, Spanish, and contemporary Oaxaca come together. Rather than treating history as something confined to archaeological sites and museums, we connect the past with the living city you see today. This private experience is designed at your pace, with a federally certified guide, private transportation, and time for questions and conversation. From an ancient Zapotec capital to a vibrant modern city, experience two chapters of Oaxaca’s story in one day.
Your day begins with hotel pickup at 8:00 a.m., with 8:30 a.m. also possible. The approximately 30-minute drive to Monte Albán gets you there before the strongest heat and larger crowds. Enjoy a relaxed, 2-hour guided visit through the ancient Zapotec capital, with time to explore the plazas, temples, ball court, and tombs, and, where permitted, climb some of the structures for a different perspective of the site and surrounding valleys. Return to Oaxaca City for a flexible 3-hour city tour, combining walking with the comfort of your private vehicle. We’ll explore the historic center, its streets, markets, plazas, and important landmarks, while also visiting areas and streets that many visitors miss. Along the way, we’ll look beyond colonial architecture to understand Oaxaca as a living place—where Indigenous communities, traditions, languages, food, and modern life continue to shape the city today. Return to your hotel around 2:30 p.m., with a relaxed pace and no need to rush.

Your comfort and safety are a priority throughout the journey. Depending on your group size, transportation is provided in a modern 2025 Mitsubishi Xpander Cross, a comfortable 2022 Kia Rio LX, or, for larger groups when needed, a 2020 Nissan Urvan. All vehicles are equipped with air conditioning, maintained to high mechanical standards, covered by full passenger insurance, and fully authorized for federal tourist transportation in Mexico. They undergo mandatory biannual inspections and are operated by drivers holding valid Federal Type A or Type A & D licenses with current medical certification. I am proud to say that I comply with all applicable federal transportation regulations, giving you the peace of mind that you're traveling legally, safely, and comfortably from beginning to end.
